 "Good value" 2010-03-19
By J. Phillips
I bought this guitar stand for my teenage daughter, but it is living in my den. The stand is not getting hard use, but it seems quite sturdy and well made and looks fine in the den. The stand is easy to use and it is also easy for her to fold up and take with her. I find it to be a good value for the price and would recommend it.

"The only guitar stand you will ever have to buy!" 2010-02-24
By Michael A. Courtright (Poulsbo, WA USA)
Fantastic!! I have used (and replaced or repaired) the "standard" guitar stands many times over the last 40 years. But then I saw one of these being used at a gig I was playing and was impressed by the functionality and ease of use. When I got home, I ordered 2 for myself. It holds (cradles is a better word for this stand) the guitar much more solidly than the standard guitar stand. No more worries about the guitar slipping or being knocked off the stand - or the strap getting tangled in the bottom holder. The construction is also simpler, much more substantial, and I don't think it will ever wear out or need fixing. When collapsed is easier to stow/carry around, too - the bottom legs don't flop around and you don't have that bottom holder to try to fit someplace. The only complaint I have is that it would be nice if the yoke locking mechanism when collapsing the stand worked better. I use a velcro cable tie to keep the yoke from flopping around while stowing/carrying it. But that is a minor inconvenience to the great functionality of the stand. Well worth the higher initial cost when compared to a standard stand.

"Clever, solid design for guitar stand- does not hold mandolins" 2010-01-30
By Matthew J. Gordon (Collegeville, PA USA)
Contrary to the prior reviewer "Fuzzworth"- this guitar stand cannot be adjusted to safely hang a mandolin. A mandolin can not reach the padded legs.

It is a great guitar stand though. The "hanging from yoke against padded legs" design- also shared by the Hercules 414B - is ingeniously simple, and works great for guitars.

The slightly more expensive Hercules 414B offers automatic closing and opening arms at the yoke, rather than the rubber band thingie that straps across the yoke that comes with this one. Ultimate also makes a more expensive one with that same kind of automatic-arm mechanism- the Ultimate GS-1000. Buyers may want to opt for that feature- it makes it easier to grab and place the guitar with one hand. At the time I bought it, I didn't think it was worth springing for the extra $10 or $15, but now I wish I had.

The only other disappointment with this stand is that it does not come with a carrying bag like the small Fender stands, though I guess it doesn't really need one.

All in all a great value for the price, but it would be even better if they could pad the vertical tube to enable hanging mandolins, so that one could easily trade a guitar and mandolin back and forth at gigs.

 "Ultimate guitar stand" 2009-11-21
By Walter R. Sereth (Los Angeles, CA)
For my needs this is the perfect guitar stand. I'm 'in and out' of my guitar on every number when I also play clarinet, and this stand doesn't tangle in the guitar strap when it's time to switch instruments. I had an identical stand which had a leg break off. I used a velcro strap which I pulled tight to hold the top of the stand in place when in transit. If you use a similar device to hold the top, don't overtighten it. Other than this, it's an outstanding guitar stand.

 "Awesome guitar stand" 2009-07-19
By L. Romero (Carlsbad, CA United States)
I've always used the standard guitar stands with the bottom support. I was a little hesitant to get this one since it doesn't have that support. This stand, however, is awesome. The guitar is held firmly from the top. Protective rubber helps prevent any scratches as well as the guitar from slipping. There's also a strap you can use to secure it. The legs are covered with protective material to allow the guitar to rest on them without scratching it. The nice feature is that it packs really well and compact, unlike most of the stands with the bottom support. I highly recommend this stand.
