I have Two 44 stacked in my pci buss works great install the old drivers and the old control panel not the new one the old drivers and panel let you sink your s/pdif clocks internaly and also lets you lock your sample rate. the new panel wants to reset the sample rate when idle. delta 44 is a great interface I've been using them for three years now and learned all the tricks.

alot of people complain about crackles or pops, but after opening my computer, air dusting it out like crazy, and installing it, it worked instantly.. with no pops at all..but, after connecting all my stuff to it, i did have some weird noise, but figured out that i could fix it with new plugs (gold rca to 1/4 ones),which are $1.50 right here on amazon.. and since then had zero noise, zero pops..so far, i got the delta running back and forth from a bunch of samplers, including an MPC1000, SP808, a casio FZ10m and a SK1, routing it all to adobe audition, running at 24bits 48k, which is more than fine for what im trying to do.. this card is incredible for its price!
KEEP IN MIND, although people on the net have hooked up more than one 44 on their system, the M audio staff said this is not a good idea.. they said things like "...we do not support that configuration..", and "...If you want to try (at your own risk)..."
so, if you need more ins/outs, throw in some extra cash

I use this card with a Windows XP box and it works just fine. Installation was no problem, and I didn't have any pops/clicks the other reviewers noted. The is about the cheapest "professional" soundcard you can get. The sound (recording or playback) is basically perfect - no noise whatsoever. The breakout box is great since you don't have to keep going behind your PC to make connections. It also reduces the noise you'll pick up if you're doing any recording. The outputs are 1/4" TRS jacks, and you"ll need 1/4" to 3.5mm adapters if you want to connect to any regular computer speakers. I use these with Alesis M1 Active 520 monitor speakers and the sound is wonderful.

DO NOT--- I repeat, DO NOT buy this pci card if you have a Mac G5. It is filled with pops and clicks. It IS NOT a reliable way to record/listen to audio. At first, it worked great with my pc, but when I had them alter the software for Mac G5 (for $50) it does not work hardly at all. Buy a firewire audio card if you have a G5.

This card/box works perfectly for me, and does exactly what I need it to do. The software allows you to mix your channels down individually, and the quality of sound that is captured from the inputs and outputs is unbelievable. The 4 in/4 out was perfect for me as well, since I use a mixer to mix down all my tracks/instruments, I can send out two stereo outputs (a total a four LR) from my mixer in the main mix and from the alt mix. This card is exactly what you need for digital recording.
