 "Not into Flatwound strings" 2009-10-22
By R. Sweet (Seattle, NY)
I purchased these because a few of my friends talked them up saying they were one of the best set of strings they had ever used. I did enjoy the very smooth feel of the strings, but the sound left a lot to be desired. They have a very good 'Buddy Holy' era rock sound, but not much else. They definitely will not sound good with a slap technique, but that isn't what they were intended for. Overall I did not enjoy them, but I could see where some people might.

These strings took the buzz out of my bass. Very easy on the fingers will buy again.

"Great strings if you like a particular sound (see review)" 2007-02-07
By Patrick D. Goonan (Pleasanton, CA)
I use these strings on my Spector fretless bass because they tend to give a sound that is more in the direction of an upright. It's a more mellow and less metallic sound that I find is particularly well-suited to jazz.

These strings hold up well and tend to retain their tone. I also find that they are easier on the fingers and a good value for the money. If you are looking for a more mellow sound, they are certainly worth a try.
