This amp is great. It has seemingly endless modeling capabilities. It makes my playing sound professional. The greatest sounds I have had in 28 years of playing.

I have owned a Line6 Spider3 for about a year now and have been very pleased with it in every way considering the low cost and features. I started reading reviews of the Line6 Spider 4 and became intrigued to say the least. Well I couldn't stand it any longer and sprang for one. This amp is "Beyond Your Wildest Dreams". Solid, more presets than you will ever need no matter what style you play and just plain fun. You would have to spend a fortune to get just half of the sounds this amp provides. I now plan on buying an FBV II foot board to complete my set up. As always Amazon was flawless through the whole purchasing process. Get one, you won't be sorry.

I just wanted a little practice amp so tried buying the Spider IV 15 from Amazon, but after two broken ones I got a refund and changed over to the bigger brother hoping the packaging would be better. I was right, whereas the small amp has zero padding and was shipped horizontal, this amp was packed with very nice foam corners and packaged such that is was shipped vertical. It is working great and has even better sound then the smaller one. I am an old rocker and this thing beats the heck out of my old amps and fuzz boxes. My only "complaint" is that it will take months to fully explore everything this amp can do. Just trying all the preset voices took a few days. And it has a nice 30 second recording loop which is great and allows you to jam with yourself. I have also had a lot of fun playing with the automatic harmony feature. This one is a keeper! Oh, and make sure you go online to get the real manual!! And watch some of their how-to movies.
If you are thinking about buying this for your teanager - great idea, he/she should love it. It will fill a gymnasium with sound. And they won't have to buy any other add on sound bending boxes.

I gave this to my brother for a birthday gift. He is a weekend warrior musician and he loves the amp. He said his friends cannot believe the sound he is getting from it. He plays a lot of Clapton music and he says the amp absolutely nails his tone.

I started two years ago with a 15 watt Spider III, then along with other amps, bought a Spider Jam. I thought they were all great. Now they come out with Spider IV, and the difference in the sound is dramatic. They are getting very, very close to tube sound. So much so that for the lousy $299, compared to say $1000+ for 75 watts of tube, this is a real steal.
Loaded with features, and hundreds of presets, it has something for everyone. The Pitch Shifter and 18 available manual settings just add to the fun. And it will work with either generation of FBV pedalboard. Says so right in the manual. The only difference I see is with the generation II pedal you get a USB port.
Does it sound as creamy and smooth as my Peavey Delta Blues or Crate Palomino tube units? No, there is still a little digital overlay around in there. But most people who are looking for a great home based amp, or maybe a church or small gig amp, this is a WINNER and the price is just nuts. Forget the Peavy Vyper, this is hands down much better and you don't have to sink another couple hundred in a pedal to get to all the presets like the Vyper.
