Born on December 26, 1963, in Gentofte, Denmark, Ulrich's father (Torbin Ulrich) was a nationally renowned tennis player, and it appeared as though Lars would follow in his father's footsteps, as the young Ulrich practiced hard on tennis skills. In 1973, his father took Lars to his first rock concert, to see the mighty Deep Purple in Copenhagen, which opened the youngster's eyes to hard rock and heavy metal. After he decided that the tennis life wasn't for him after all, Ulrich shifted his focus on music (namely the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement: Iron Maiden, Saxon, Diamond Head, Motorhead, Def Leppard, etc.), and took up the drums. His family relocated to California in the early '80s, as Lars promptly put an ad in the local music paper looking for other similarly minded musicians looking to start up a band (even though the NWOBHM had yet to make an impression stateside). One of the first replies he received was from guitarist James Hetfield, as the pair agreed that they sho

"I'm told they are great" 2010-05-09
By Llamallero (Galena, IL USA)
Bought these for my grandson the drummer. He says they are a little heavier than he's used to, but they are indestructible and play well. The tips need replacing, but the instructions include where to buy those. They may seem a little expensive, but they last so much longer than wooden sticks when used by someone who idolizes Blink 182.

These sticks are an adjustment. Heavier than the average but the balance of the weight after you get used to them is amazing. I can't stand playing with a regular set of sticks anymore after using these. Worth the money, buy em!

"Great gift for that drummer in your life!" 2010-01-18
By Browneyedgurl (Illinois/ Land of corn)
I was turned on to these drumsticks by a friend that raved about his. I ordered these as a Christmas gift for my husband, who loves to come home after a hard day at work and play his drums. He loved them! He was impressed with the aluminum design and ingenius replacement design. They are a bit heavier than his cheap wood sticks he had been using, but says its not a big deal to him. Now my husband feels like a rock star playing with his new Ahead Lars Ulrich Sticks!

 "Riddiculously awesome" 2010-01-08
By Derek S. Christensen (dude town)
These have to be the best drumsticks ive ever used. The coolest feature of these drumsticks is that they have interchangeable parts so if you ever manage to break the metalic finish and hardened plastic tip, you can replace them easily. these drumsticks may be a little costy but its so worth it because these things are beasts. they have a grip at the bottom that feels natural and the shaft is made of different materials so you know exactly where to hold it. also i thought the weight of these sticks were going to heavier than ive ever experienced but when i hold them along with Travis Barker's white wood drumsticks, they weigh the same if not less. i couldnt be more pleased. the only negative i can think of is that when you do rim taps its pretty quiet but other than that its the best buy ive done in a long time.
