 "great pedal" 2010-04-14
By jonnybravo (Honolulu)
This pedal is well built, and loaded with many effects. The presets are easy to use and sound great right out of the box. It will take time to learn and master it's full capabilities, but it is not impossible to learn to use. I have been playing forclose to 12 years and have never heard an effects pedal that sounds this good.

 "Too Much, Too Little" 2010-02-14
By Camillo D. S. Stefano
There are too many things in it. Think are seriously going to use everything the perdalboard offers? NAO you won't know how to use half of it and you won't learn because it's tidous to read the manual. Now I recently bought a Vox DA5 and it has everything I need 11 tones and 11 effects, it only costs $140 and has a marvalous fat tone. Now it that isn't sufficient there is the Vox ToneLab ST which has everything I need.

Don't make the same mistake I did don't buy it!

"RP500 - Exciting Sound, Simple Set Up" 2010-02-06
By Paul S. Racicot
I'm not an effects geek. I like it really simple. My previous set up was a series of stomp boxes. Need reverb? Stomp on the reverb pedal. Need delay? Stomp on the delay pedal. Need distortion? Stomp on the distortion pedal. My sound wasn't unique, it was BORING! But the effects were easy to use. I bought the RP500 after reading several positive reviews. And when I got it and hooked it up I loved the 99 preset effects right out of the box! I couldn't believe the sounds I got out of my guitar (ASAT Z3) with this multi-FX monster.

The nicest thing is I can use it like a regular stomp box while performing. For example I can select a clean setting like "Acoustic Guitar" and make it gritty by stomping on the "DISTORTION" switch. If I want to add a little punch, I can stomp on the "COMPRESSION" switch. If I need a delay, I can stomp on the "DELAY" switch and then double tap "TAP TEMPO" to get the length of the delay. It's that easy to use. I don't have to think about it - it's so intuitive. It's easy to scroll through the 99 presets: just stomp on the "UP" of "DOWN" switches. Need a wah wah pedal? Put the volume pedal to the metal and presto! Instant wah wah pedal.

For those who like to tweak everything to death - and you know who you are - this box has a USB plug and software to tweak every preset or create, and name your own 99 presets on your computer. That gives a total of 198 presets possible.

The build is solid as a rock. Built like a tank, and has replaced my amplifier on stage. I just hook it up directly to the mixer, and I can hear myself though the monitors. No more lugging a hefty tube amp around! Did I mention I'm lazy? I bought the Gator small keyboard gig bag to carry this thing around and it holds the RP500 plus all the cables I need. The RP500 simplified my gigging life, and it made my sound a little less boring.

 "RP500 is outstanding!!!" 2009-12-28
By Sean Cardinez (Trinidad and Tobago)
Just started using my RP500. I'm using an Ibanez 440R-HH and an Ibanez RG2550Z. Plugged the RP500 straight into my little solid state Peavey envoy 110. The amp models sounded great....probably even greater when I plug it into my PC and into some full range speakers. The build quality also seems robust enough for playing on the road. Some reviewers say that they find it difficult to differentiate the amp models when playing through a tube amp. I didn't find this was the case with a solid state amp.

I didn't find editing the user presets as difficult as some people said.

Still have to see how it sounds going into a Peavey Valvestate or Bugera 6260.

FYI, Digitech are now providing a firmware update on their site that adds the 20 second looper that's available on the other RP multi-effects range. Eliminates the only negative that I saw with this unit. Read the instructions carefully as there are certain steps to follow so you don't delete the factory presets!
