The DOD YJM308 Yngwie Malmsteen Overdrive delivers unmatched powerhouse shredder tone!To meet the exacting sound requirements of Yngwie Malmsteen, DOD worked with the virtuoso himself and created the amazing tone and overdrive qualities of the YJM308. The basis for this tone is a vintage DOD 250 that Yngwie has used for years. The development process required rigorous electronic testing and real-time analysis of various overdrive and EQ combinations before they finally were able to match Yngwie's signature sound. The YJM308 features Gain and Level controls and a bypass footswitch. When I was a kid in Sweden back in 1978, I bought my first DOD 250 pedal. This preamp overdrive pushing the front end of my tube amps has been a key element to my tone ever since. Like most handwired vintage equipment of the era, there is some variety in the sound between my different old gray pedals. DOD took my favorite pedal and used that as the reference to create the YJM308. Now I can always get my trademark tone and keep my original vintage gear safe at home. More than that, this new pedal sounds so good it is what I am using these days. I have not hooked up my old 250s at all recently. I am using the YJM308 for everything, including my new album. Not to mention it looks cool-Yngwie Malmsteen

 "More than I expected" 2010-08-24

I bought this pedal as a collectible since I am a big Malmsteen fan. Some reviews out there do not recommend this as a main distortion pedal, they do talk about using it as a boost to bring your sound up. In my case it does work as a main distortion pedal and I do like the tone, I really do. I recommend it as your main source of distortion, and if it does not work that way...it will still boost you up pretty hardcore, so for the price...you can't go wrong!.

 "Not to Bad" 2010-08-02

I bought this pedal more as a collectors item as I am a fan of Malmsteen. I wouldn't really used this one too much as it has a great deal of gain and therefore noise. Its mandatory to get a noise suppressor with this pedal. But for the price you get a great product. If you turn down the gain you can achieve some really nice bluesy tones.

 "exceptional value overdrive pedal" 2010-06-05
By N. Gill (galway Ireland)
i use this pedal as a boost on top of my amp distortion. i use an engl screamer an this pedal really cuts through when i go for solos.

The tone is close enough to malmsteen tone(but no cigar!).it makes the notes brighter an more punchier an the overall sound much fuller(just what you need in a band context when soloing)

i was thinkin of gettin a ibanez tube screamer but was put of by the 100euro plus price an read reviews here that this was better an a lot cheaper(30 quid!!)

the only annoying thing is you have to unscrew the bottom to change the batteries but a minor problem.

For a full, cutting tone you cant go wrong with this pedal 10/10

 "Best $30 I ever spent on a pedal." 2010-03-10

This pedal is a simple signal booster. It does exactly what I expect it to do and it's the best $30 I ever spent on a pedal. I personally would not describe this as an "overdrive" pedal (though by technical definition it is) in the sense that is nothing like a tube screamer. If you're looking for an overdrive, distortion, or fuzz pedal, this probably isn't what you want. The way I use this pedal is to add sustain, and enhance pick dynamics by running it into an amp that's already a little distorted. Sounds great..
