"Great for what it is..." 2007-12-14
By Poncho De La Mancha (GA, USA)
I got a classical guitar, and needed a strap. Well classical guitars don't have strap buttons, which is stupid I think, so I had to find one of these. I thought it would be easy enough, but actually it took some searching. I regretting getting one with leather on it, but it was either this or a cheap one with a metal hook instead of plastic. So I got this one. It's great for what it is. Easy to use, comfortable (for this type of strap), and doesn't seem to hurt the guitar. Basically, if you have a classical guitar and want a strap, this is your best bet.

NOTE: These straps put all the weight on your neck, and you can't let go of the guitar or it will fall. Seems more trouble than it's worth, but until they start putting strap buttons on classical guitars, this is your only choice.

 "Doesn't fit a full size guitar" 2010-05-25
By J. Demaree
I guess I should have checked better before I bought this. It didn't fit the full size guitar I was buying it for, it's just not long enough. I gave it to my son who has a 3/4 and 1/2 size. It's a fairly cheap case but it's a fairly cheap price too.

"Pretty flimsy; I wouldn't use it for an expensive guitar" 2010-04-30
By threelittlechicks (Hackettstown, NJ)
I just bought one of these from someone on Craig's List who thought classicals and acoustics were the same size/shape, so she couldn't use it. So I got it in brand new condition for $10. That's all I'd WANT to pay for it. I just bought a cheapie Montana classical guitar for $100, so I don't have an expensive asset to protect. This will do the trick when I want to bring it around. I did have a hard time closing the third latch - the one by the widest part of the guitar. Once the guitar goes inside, it pushes against the sides of the case just enough to make the top part of the lid not want to meet the lower part. I finally got it to close and hopefully keeping it closed around the guitar for a few days will "stretch" the lid so it won't give me trouble. Am I happy with the case? I spent $10, so I'm ecstatic. If I'd spent the $40 originally shown on Amazon, I'd be annoyed as hell. In short, buy this if you are short on cash and your guitar is NOT an expensive one.

"Cheap semi-hard classical guitar case" 2010-03-20
By J. Dauntless (Clearwater, Florida)
I thought this would be a perfect case for my 28 year old semi-decent Yamaha classical guitar, since my 20 year old chipboard guitar case fared pretty well until now. However, I've been disappointed with the quality of this one.

Yamaha website [...] shows a picture that looks much better than the one I received. Also, it's supposed to be "Velour Lined", which is NOT. In addition, in two places they forgot to cover exposed metals inside the case, making the guitar prone to scratches.

I don't think Yamaha really makes guitar cases. This case doesn't even have any identification mark about Yamaha. They possibly subcontract these to the lowest bidder. Apparently, this time they didn't select the right contractor.

If the guitar you have is valued more than $150, this case is not even worth considering.

 "Awesome guitar!" 2010-03-18
By C. Hayes (Clifton Park, NY)
Me and a buddy of mine have a habit of visiting our local Guitar Center and testing out stuff when we're bored, and on one of our visits I decided to try out some classical guitars. I tried out every classical that they had and came to the conclusion that the Yamahas had the best sound for the money. They were selling this exact guitar for $200 +tax and without any extras (not even a case). I almost bought it right there but, knowing how much of a rip-off Guitar Center can be, I looked online.

Bottom line is this, folks: You're not going to find a better sounding guitar than this unless you want to spend an extra $500, plus the cost of a special case and humidifier (classical guitars made of exotic woods MAY sound a little better but they have to be babied with climate control or else they will WARP). So, if you're not Mason Williams, buy this guitar.

"Great DEAL! Perfect for a beginner." 2010-03-10
By I. Kingrey (Dale City, VA United States)
My sons are both learning to play and they had been sharing for a while. Now we have this Yamaha as a second and it's much better than the first. The Classical has a nicer tone and has nylon strings which are better for fingers that have not yet calloused. I would purchase this package again!

 "Accoustic guitar" 2010-02-01
By Gracie M. Suko (Anderson, IN)
I was so excited to find this guitar to replace one stolen from my son. It was exactly as described, great quality and price. And, it arrived ahead of schedule. Unfortunately, UPS left it by the door of a total stranger who happened to be honest enough to hunt down my son. Boo for UPS, hooray for this seller.

"Better than I hoped for." 2009-09-05
By Carl Williams (Houston, TX USA)
After moving recently, I discovered my Fender classical guitar to be cracked in transit. It never would stay in tune and I pretty much stopped playing guitar altogether after the disappointment, even after being a lifetime guitar player.

Scanning through Amazon.com the other day, I happened to come across this Yamaha C40 classical guitar and saw that it was on a really great sale: $144.95, ya can't beat that! After contacting my wife (i.e. the boss :)), I was surprised to hear her say that she had missed hearing me play and sing. I ordered the guitar Wednesday afternoon and BOOM! Friday evening it was sitting on my front porch.

Upon seeing the "box" standing there... I began to feel dread....thinking I've seen these same types of boxes with "STUDENT READY" or "NEWBIE FRIENDLY" written on the side at Walmart or Sam's Club. Like a kid, I immediately took it inside and started opening the box, with my wife being as excited (skeptical?) as me. I hadn't realized that the guitar came wth a soft cased gig bag, and we began ooooing and ahhhing.. you would have thought it was Christmas morning. Opening the gig bag, the guitar was tightly protected by a thin sheet of foam packing. As I began to take this sheet away, we began to catch glimpses of the wooden body and neck of the guitar. Man, what a beaut! Strings were already installed so there was no excuse to delay.. so I immediately began tuning her up! My wife had been rummaging through the gig bag and said that there was an electronic tuner and a DVD in the case. The tuner even had batteries already! Way to go, Yamaha/Amazon! I got low E and in just a few minutes (new strings, ya know) I was playing some of my old favorites...The Trees by Rush, anybody?... my fingers were a bit rusty, but this guitar still sounded beautiful. I've never owned a Yamaha classical before... always been a Fender and Gibson electric man, but just WOW! I've often played different classical guitars in music stores, but I would put this Yamaha up against any of those $2,000 models. It is a beautiful guitar, the tone and sustain are incredible. With the gig bag, electronic tuner, and DVD (not sure what's on there, haven't watched it yet) included this is a no brainer. If you are on the fence about buying this gem, come on over to this side. I guarantee the grass IS greener! Oh, one more thing, your wife won't yell at you for buying it either! (your mileage may vary ;))

 "great tone" 2009-08-13
By Marco A. Tejada
I recently took this guitar off the wall rack in my home studio where it sat for 2 years and played it and stayed nearly in tune, it was only a flat from standard E tuning. I always like this guitar better from more expensive because price, quality, and tone. Upon purchasing this guitar, cuz I neeeded for a classical class that I took back then, I changed the strings to D'addario pro arte hard tension and the sound gain a richer tone. Even my instructor who was a hardcore classical player noticed.Im so happy with my Yamaha, So glad that I purchase it instead of a $fifteen hundred dollar Ramirez..
