I have a Behringer Ultra Bass amp which has a good deal of hum, which I bought this unit to eliminate. It works to a certain degree. The ground loop hum caused by mono cables was reduced by a good amount, but the buzzing caused by fluorescent lights or other environmental sources was not reduced.



In addition, a stereo cable needs to be used from the Hum Destroyer to the amp, as a mono cable will only create more ground loop hum.



I have not used other hum cancelling devices so I have nothing to compare it against. I can say the unit appears to be well made and the input/output jacks have a nice tight feel, keeping the cables securely in place.

I purchased a couple of these to have on hand, and almost immediately found uses for them. So I bought another to have a spare; found a need for it, so bought another spare, etc. Now I have five of them!

They are simple, well-built, and do the job. They are especially handy when matching unbalanced outputs to balanced inputs, as when connecting consumer equipment to professional gear.

No, they won't clean up dirty audio for you - that isn't what they are for. But for matching and hum elimination, they are a quick and inexpensive fix. I especially like the dual, independent channels; and yet, they are inexpensive enough that I don't mind using just one channel if that is all I need.

Not sure if the product is working properly, but the hum in my set up is still there. That may be due one or more of the dimmers in the house, which this product may or may not be able to eliminate.

I am the senior operator in a small planetarium in Ohio, the Clark Planetarium at Shawnee State University. We recently updated our system, but one of the main issues we had is the 60hz hum through the ground loop. Our system is sprawled out across several circuits, so it was very difficult to isolate and eliminate the noise problem until we purchased the Hum Eliminator. We purchased just one of them to try it out (because the costs are rather high), but now that we have field tested that one, we will be purchasing more for our other input systems.

I was having a problem with horizontal scrolling lines going through my HD television. They were on every channel, every day, and even present when watching DVDs. For a long time, I thought the problem was with my television. The guy who installed part of our audio system suggested I try the HumX. I just received it yesterday, and it has SUBSTANTIALLY eliminated the lines. I can spot an occasional scrolling line if I look closely, but the scrolling lines have been 98% eliminated.

I had been hearing a hum from the subwoofer of an Onkyo HT-S9100THX system. This was much louder when I ran a space heater. It tested the whether it was a grounding issue by using a 3-prong to 2-prong AC plug converter. This eliminated most of the hum. Not wanting to leave the system ungrounded, I purchased this device, plugged all of my components (cable box, receiver, subwoofer, Blu-ray player, HD TV) into a single surge protector and plugged it into the Hum X. There's only a hardly noticeable hum now from the subwoofer, even with the space heater running.

Greetings. I wanted to write a review for anyone that is going through the same annoying situation that I was going through a few weeks ago. I use my Macbook Pro primarily for audio recording with Logic 9. For monitoring (speakers), I use KRK Rokit 8s. This combination (along with my audio interface) worked flawlessly for me until I added a Dell flatscreen monitor. The monitor is nice, and it was easy to set up, but it immediately introduced a whirling static and hum to my Rokits. I tried extension cords in different outlets, reconfigured my audio cables, checked the circuitry of my apartment... nothing worked. I didn't understand ground loops, but I did some research and (with the help of a gentleman at KRK) came across the EBTECH HUM X. $70 is a lot for a little adaptor, but if your ground loop problem was causing you as much "stress" as mine was, you'll gladly cough up the cashe for this solution. I got mine, took it out of the box, plugged it into the wall outlet, plugged my flatscreen into it, and like WHAMMO, absolutely NO HUM. Totally silent. The Hum X does exactly what EBTECH says it will do, and very efficiently. I had an Amazon gift card when I purchased mine, so I got it for half the regular price; however, I would have bought the thing anyway, and, had I paid full price, it still would have been worth it. I am a DJ and Karaoke show operator. I was experiencing an annoying hum after using a laptop and a computer program to replace my CD and CDG players. I tried an expensive power supply unit that was supposed to "clean up" any problems related to the electrical circuit, but this did not work. Once I plugged in the Hum X the problem immediately disappeared. I could not be more pleased and only wish I has purchased this item first.

I DJ and went to a laptop system with a DJ program (PCDJ Red Mobile) instead of carrying around a ton of cds to play the music. When hooking up my system, I had a VERY noticable HUM. Very annoying and interfered with the music. I researched this problem on the internet and found there was a ground loop causing this problem. I did the experiment that was suggested. I plugged my laptop into a grounded outlet using an adaptor without a ground,(not recommended other than for discovery of the problem) and had no more humm. I chedked the internet for filters and came up with the Ebtech Hum X. Ordered it and used it, plugging the laptop into it. There was no hum. It was so quiet, i wasn't sure anything was coming out to the speakers. Then I started playing some tunes and everything was great. Good product. Worth the bucks.
