 "Nice Amp" 2010-05-25
By Ecadad (California,USA)
I have been playing guitar for a while, and decided to get an electric guitar. I purchased a Les Paul, and this amp. This amp is pretty good. There is no hiss at all, which is really great. None of the nobs crackle, and the body feels strong. I don't like the built-in effects. If you are buying this for effects, don't. They sound thin and cheap, except for the echo. Also, you cannot get a real clean sound because a preset is always changing it a little. I f you want effects, it would be better to get actual pedals.

However, if you are on a budget, this would be a good amp. It has all the things you want in a first amp. If it is your first amp, then you should buy it.

PROS:

No hiss

solid construction

good price

CONS:

bad sounding effects

to many adjustments needed to make a clean sound.

If this is your first amp, buy it.

 "A fine practice amp" 2010-05-24
By P. Krysl (CA, USA)
I've never had to turn this amp up to half volume, it's pretty loud for having a low wattage. While the amp is intended for rock and metal, the clean setting sounds great, too. I don't use the Crunch setting often, preferring instead to use my Zoom pedal for that sound.

One thing that might bother some people: occasionally if you turn on the amp, you will not hear anything. All you need to do is turn it off and on again. Also, sometimes when you turn on the amp, the settings are forgotten by the amp. If you twiddle with the knobs, then you can get back your settings. This isn't a big problem, but can be annoying.

The built-in effects are alright, but again, I prefer to use my pedals. The headphone output is useful if you're playing at night or recording. The MP3 in is alright, but naturally when you play music from your iPod in the amp, it will sound different (since the amp was built for the specific frequency range of guitar sounds). However if you use headphones and the MP3 simultaneously, there should be no problem. I have never used the FBV pedal input.

It's a simple amp, but it's loud, durable, and not too expensive. For most people this amp should be adequate if you have a store of effects pedals to use it with.

 "This Amp Kicks @SS!" 2010-04-07
By R. Parker (Somewhere, SC, Russia)
The EXTREME setting kicks mega butt. The effect knobs are cool. But the clean setting is kinda bad, its ok, just not that good. And if you set the setting to CLEAN, it auto sets the effect knobs on, gets annoying. If you low on money, and wanna play rock n' roll, heavy metal...or more, GET IT.

"Loads of fun and totally bitchin' sound!" 2009-10-01
By Christopher D. Johnston (Seattle, Wa.)
When I was shopping around for a combo amp I tried all the brands and this little guy was cheaper, sounded better, and was easier to use then the rest. It gets loud so neighbors beware.

 "Line 6 Spider III 15watt" 2010-03-17
By Gary W. Douglas (Kansas City, KS)
The first arrival of this thing and I thought, "Dang, I got ripped", but lo and behold! The power is there with the sound to match! In my generation (80's) wattage was equivalent to power and that beloved metallic sound (not to mention the weight). This amp has the volume beyond the weight and wattage not to mention a few multi-effects (combination of two at a time); and yes, the added effects sound good. The down side is that you are limited in control/parameters; self-contained effects usually do not have the extras like a pedal board or rack mount. You have the following effects: 1) chorus/flange, 2) phaser, 3) Tremlo, 4) sweep echo, 5) Tape echo, and 6) reverb. The extras to the list are Distortion Boost and Noise Gate. There are four channel presets: 1) Clean, 2) Crunch, 3) Metal, & 4) Insane all by a touch of a soft pushbutton. Each has a distinct tone and presence from the other. These channels/presets can be changed. Each channel/preset has an auto FX and tone set. You can disable that auto FX by just holding the INSANE channel button down before turning the amp on. The only thing I would've added to this amp would be an additional output jack (not just a TRS jack but a midi-out and/or the 3 prong~MIC output). If you're looking for an amp with volume, good sound, light weight, and is inexpensive (with the possibility of adding either the Spider III 30 or HD75 peddle later), this amp is for you.

 "Great amp" 2010-02-09
By J. Codding (Miami, FL USA)
I got this for my daughter for Christmas. She loves it. It sounds awesome (it will sound even better when her guitar playing improves a little more). This is a great practice amp, it has a crapload of effects. My son who only played guitar hero before is now learning the real thing because they love using this amp. I don't know a whole lot about amps because I don't play but my brother who has been playing for 15 yrs. says it's a really nice amp, especially for the price. It gets nice and loud inside the house too. Definitely worth the buy for me.

 "What's Not To Like?" 2010-02-06
By Michael Patrick Mccartney
After looking at a gazillion amps on-line, I settled on this one because of the reviews that I read on ALL different brands, and this one stood out for me the most. I was going to go for the Spider IV, but it was about $32.00 more. The IV has a built in tuner, and a few other bells and whistles that I really can live without, which is why I went with the III. I only gave it 4 stars because I couldn't justify giving it 5 stars due to the fact that nothing in this world is perfect. Except maybe Eric Clapton, when he's playing the guitar. :)

"Unclear and complicated to use..." 2010-01-02
By Verichai (Annapolis, MD)
Had this amp for a few weeks and either I got a bad one, or it is much more complicated than it should be. The knobs do not seem to respond properly , sometimes the effects work, sometimes they don't, there are lights flashing...The volume seems to go in and out and I guess the effects have a separate volume. I don't know what is up with this thing. A clean, unaltered, effect-less sound has eluded me....so far. Guess I have to spend some time with the manual, which seems absurd for a guitar amp.
