I believe the Behringer UFO202 is working well. When I plug into the headphone jack, I hear good stereo sound.
The recording program (Audacity) stinks. For starters it incapacitates my PC's sound device. I have to UNinstall Audicity before I can get anything out of my speakers, whether the usual Windows sounds or something from iTunes or Windows Media Player.
I can slide the volume control to where ever I like, but it insists on dropping back to infinity.
Only the right channel VU meter shows any activity, though I believe it's recording in stereo.
For playback I've imported one of the .wav files into iTunes. Absolutely awful!
And no user's manual. :-(
I'll be looking elsewhere for a recording program.

I bought this to convert my collection of vinyl recordings to MP3 so I could listen to them on the run. The UFO202 works exactly as described and, once you have downloaded and installed the MP3 conversion software, makes it easy to rip any line or phono level signal. This unit comes with several software tools but MP3 encoding is protected by licensing so you will need to get that piece of software from another source. The UFO202 manual explains this, and Audacity even has a link built in. It's free, quick and easy to resolve -- you just want to be sure your computer is connected to the Internet when you make your first MP3.

The product arrived on time and in perfect condition. It's surprisingly small and light. The only necessary cable that didn't come with it is the "RCA connector," which you can get pretty much anywhere, once you figure out what it is. Don't expect this thing to magically do all the work for you in terms of converting your cassettes to CDs or mp3 files, but don't worry about it being too complicated, either. To put it in perspective, I'm so inept with technology that it often takes me 20 minutes to send a three-word text message (and so disinterested that I usually won't bother)... yet even I can say that using Audacity to record and edit songs is easy and fun.

This Behringer interface works great for recording CD'S from albums.
I use the recording software that came with my laptop (Sonic Stage) because I didn't care for the software that came with this preamp. Just like recording albums to cassettes, it takes time.
