This thing rips. I am a beginner guitar player and I wanted something heavy and chunky sounding to mess around with. It delivers there, and for the price, i still look back on the purchase favorably.
The problem is that the pedal itself wont toggle for me. I turn it on, and I can not turn it off without resetting the battery --which really sucks if you want to go from clean to heavy or back again in a fluid motion while jamming.
It may just be mine, I might have gotten the lemon, but you get what you pay for. --That aside, i think this makes a good heavy sound and is good for messing about--considering the price.. its just not stage worthy

This thing is great for me, just playing for fun and using it to get an awesome distortion sound. For the price it can't get any better, I haven't even started to explore the possibilities with the controls, but when I moved the mid knob (not the mid freq) up too high it just started whining really loudly, and when one of the cables isn't fitted into the in/output correctly it'll do the same thing (just a little bit of pressure would do it). I haven't gotten my new cables yet and being able to play with it without being plugged into an amp was a lifesaver, I just put in an adapter and some computer speakers and I was good to go. Once I started playing with it I was having to much fun and I started figuring out how to play the Star Spangled Banner, hours of endless enjoyment just playing with a sound effect XD
For somebody who doesn't play gigs, this is a perfect starter pedal, and for the price it can't be beat. It only looses the 1 star because of the occasional high-pitched screech/wail/whine that it does if the settings aren't right or the cables aren't aligned in the plugs correctly.
EDIT: I got the power cord for it today and it works great, but I wanted to add that 9V batteries are very easy to change/remove once you figure it out, just push one of the black buttons in where the pedal pivots, a long thin screwdriver or pen works great. I had some more fun with it today, it really is hours of enjoyment in one little plastic pedal!

I bought the Behringer Heavy Metal Distortion UM300 pedal two months ago when I was looking for a good, heavy distortion sounds, and I went to Behringer first because of the quality and affordability of their Behringer Bass Overdrive BOD100 I'd gotten many months earlier. The pedal gives a good sound, but unfortunately produces a loud buzzing when it's on and you're not playing, spoiling portions of a song which are intended to be silent and just generally being a bit unpleasant unless you turn it off immediately. The rang of sounds it can produce are good, and certain settings minimize the buzz, but if you need performance-quality distortion, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Great for practice or hobby, I wouldn't suggest it on-stage.
