 "fuzz is fuzz" 2010-10-03

It gives boost, fuzz and distortion, and a treble tweek for the 29 dollas I paid. I use it for bust out leads like a tube screamer but for a third of the price. Its not a big muff made for soothing fuzz like back in the 70s but who really plays like that now? Why pay 100 dollas for an antique sound that you wont really use anyway? I play clean and loud 97% of the time. There are so-so many electronics out there today, that if you have a decent amp and guitar set up- you could buy anything and get the killer sound or effect you are looking for. The Danelectros are cheap, well built, have every conceivable effect available and don't cost a fortune or fill up huge pieces of floor real estate on a pedal board. I dig mine. What a smokin deal!

"Great fuzz for the money" 2010-07-16
By Adrian Price (Atlanta, GA USA)
I use the CF-1 with a Gretsch hollow-body and a Washburn solid-body, into a Blackheart Handsome Devil. The pedal provides decent tone at a fraction of the price of big-name pedals. The controls are a little tricky because of the positioning, but if you've used other Cool Cat pedals you'll be used to it. The pedal itself is sturdy (it is metal), and the foot switch seems solid. I use the pedal with a Godlyke Power-All, so I can't speak to battery life. As others have mentioned, the pedal does put out a lot of volume -- I usually keep it at around 2 or 3 to keep the volume more or less in line with other pedals. If you're looking for a fuzz that can really overdrive your amp, this is a great choice.

All in all, this is an excellent fuzz for players on a budget, or players who aren't sure how well the fuzz sound will suit them and don't want to invest in boutique hardware to find out.

 "Cool Fuzz/Distortion fun" 2010-04-11

The Danelectro Cool Cat Fuzz is a great pedal for the price. One has to remember that this is a modern pedal not a vintage Fuzz face. This fuzz creates a super good modern fuzz/distortion sound, but is a little heavy for the classic Fuzz face tone. I highly recomend the Danelectro Cool Cat Fuzz. It adds a nice rich fuzz/distortion tone to the pedal board.

 "Great Fuzz pedal." 2009-10-17
By J.L. Populist (WI,USA)
I bought the Danelectro Cool Cat Fuzz guitar pedal used on an on-line auction.

It's made from metal rather than plastic, so it's a bit heavier. The button is very sturdy.

It works well.

What I get for sound from the Cool Cat Fuzz is more of a "warm" or "liquid" sound that I can't get from an Overdrive button on my M15 amp. If it's relevant to the reader, I'm using it with a Douglas Shadow and Douglas M15 amplifier. The guitar is a cheap Les Paul knock-off.

There are three adjustment knobs- Volume, Tone, and Fuzz for shaping the sound.

I'm glad that I bought this pedal and would recommend it anyone looking for an affordable effects pedal.

 "Great value" 2009-05-24
By Charles Falzone (Evanston, IL United States)
Can't really beat this for the money. Several usable tones. Plenty of gain. Responsive to gtr volume/dynamics. Seems pretty bombproof.

Only quibble: it's fairly polite. Can't get a really messed up, broken, glitchy sound from it. I suppose for many, that is a feature, not a bug.
