ISP Technologies Decimator Noise Reduction Pedal

The Decimator guitar pedal offers a new approach to Noise Reduction processing with a high level of performance. Most noise suppression systems suffer from one major problem inherent in their design: The system cannot be immediately responsive to very short-term staccato notes. The typical downward expander sound reduction system suffers from a dead zone in the release response characteristic that causes a compromise in tracking both fast decaying notes and long sustained notes. The Decimator pedal's design offers a novel approach to tracking the envelope of the input signal called Time Vector Processing. Due to this novel approach in controlling the expander, the Decimator system will instantly respond to short staccato notes and, at the same time, will provide a very slow ripple free control of long sustained notes. The Decimator noise suppression system is very transparent delivering high performance. The Decimator pedal by ISP Technologies is extremely easy to use; simply insert the Decimator at the end of your chain of existing pedals or, insert the Decimator Pedal in the effects loop of your amplifier to clean up the noise present at the amplifier input as well as the noise in the amplifiers pre-amp section. Packaged in a rugged, beautifully polished smooth chrome chassis, the Decimator pedal offers reliability, performance and beauty in one compact pedal.

 "The Static Killer!" 2010-10-07
By LiL Deb
I must say that this must be the best noise gate pedal on the planet! What's unique about this pedal is the single knob function. Once you hear any noise from you effects pedal or amp, you just turn the knob just enough to kill the noise. That's it! This pedal is worth the price. A must buy before they really find out how good this pedal is and then go up on the price.

"It's not perfect but works" 2010-09-02

It does what it says it does. This pedal does not remove all the noise unless set to mute yet it does reduce allot of noise when set to reduction and can be adjusted easy enough.

 "Worst Noise Reducer/Supressor" 2010-08-27
By J.Feen-
There's a reason why it's $30: it does NOT work--not even a little! I'm not exaggerating; it made my amp--whether on clean, distortion, or lead--sound like a Walmart brand child's fart machine. Spend a little extra and just get the Boss; I've used that one and it works like magic.

 "Better Than expected" 2010-08-11
By Lenny Timons (NY, NY)
This is not the first noise gate on my board, I also have a Boss gate. I say this is better than expected, because I expected it to work just like the Boss pedal, but perhaps less well. But, in fact, it works better than the Boss, and this is because it has an indicator light to tell you when the gate is open or closed, which makes it much easier to setup. Otherwise, it does what it's supposed to.

"does what it says, plastic" 2010-07-21
By Slinky
I have an older cheap fretless p-bass that creates a bunch of noise, the pedal works pretty good at cutting it out during pauses, and during regular play. It does a great job of reducing feedback when used with distortion and reverb affects, even when I use my warwick. Price was spot on. If it was metal, it would be 5 star, but alas.

 "one can't fault it, really :-)" 2010-06-17
By Dave (Atlanta, GA United States)
- it's simple to operate

- it does what it's made to do

- it does that very well

- it's bargaintastic

If you know what a noise gate is supposed to do and you think you might need one, then I highly recommend this unit.

I'm about to get a second one and put all my distortion-creating devices in the loop (other Behringer units, Rat, Big Muff, etc etc). The one I already have can stay at the end of my signal chain, just before the delays. Pretty much a must-have for recording, especially during those quiet spots :-) Thanks to this unit I have a very quiet recording setup.

 "Love my Noise Suppressor" 2010-07-20
By solarain (Washington, D.C.)
This is a great pedal. It doesn't "process" or "color" the sound, so a lot of people don't really think of getting one.

If you use several pedals or have a noisy pickup on your guitar, you will want one of these. It picks up the nasty humming/buzzing, and removes it....all under your control. You can dial in how sensitive the noise reduction is so you can get the "quiet" you want.

I use several pedals and, when using them alone, they are pretty quiet....however, when I string them together, they start making noise....humming/buzzing.....I added this pedal to my pedal board and the unwanted noises are gone.

Highly recommend!!

"Required for heavy chaining and most distortion pedals" 2010-01-30
By Derek D. Myles (Boise, Idaho)
Boss lives up to its namesake with this pedal. For situations where you are chaining several pedals and experience excess noise, or where you are using heavy distortion pedals - this pedal just like the other folks have said will make your noise vanish. This will be a required pedal for most guitarists. It is an expensive pedal but well worth the investment if you want to save your ears and your sanity.

 "Excellent item." 2009-06-05
By Ira Carmel (Sacramento)
This noise suppressor allows you to run a loop of effects through a send receive setup. It performs a function of closing off final output when signal from the send receive loop drops below a certain level.

I used this item, a compressor, and modifications to my bass to drastically reduce extra noise and hum in my rig.

< Output Unit < Input

< Send < Receive

Output to your amp.

Send to your effects loop input.

Input from your instrument.

Receive from your effects loop output.

Example;

< To Amp < From guitar.

< To Receive < Compressor < Wah Pedal < Fuzz < Equalizer < Send

Send me a comment if you have a question about this unit.

 "Where'd the noise go?" 2008-12-27
By Brett Gilmer (STLMO)
I got this pedal for christmas, I've been wanting it for a while. The effects send/return loop kills the hum. I use a Digitech Tube overdrive, a strat and a 65 watt Fender amp. You know you still get the hush from the amp when its on, but the overdrive "SHHHH"is gone. The tone from my rig is intact, and it doesn't sound like I'm playing on the beach.

If this pedal got stolen, I'll chop his hand off!
