 "Well worth the price." 2010-05-28
By T. Johnson (California)
For those complaining about non-functioning units, when I got mine I couldn't get any sound from the output. When I put the guitar cable in there was about 1/8th inch of room left between the jack and the pedal but it felt like it was in all the way. I tried pushing it in with a bit more force and it finally snapped in the rest of the way. Then the pedal worked fine. Now it snaps in with no effort. A great pedal, $33 for a brand new circuit and components vs. $160 for a 30 year old Boss DM-2. It really does sound amazing. If you are concerned about the plastic case, knobs and jacks, find someone with soldering skills to put it in a sturdier housing. No regrets. This pedal sounds as good any basic analog delay in my collection (EHX, Boss, Ibanez).

"i like this analog delay" 2010-02-25
By 1960s guy (Boston, MA USA)
i just bought the behringer vd 400. i wanted to use it for delay effects for vocals and it works well for that. for the $22 i paid for it, its a bargain--i've seen a lot of other analog delays in the $200 category-over priced to say the least.

my only complaint is that behringer pedals dont have an easy design to put the 9v battery in--you have to take the top off, which is a little difficult; but overall i am happy i bought it.

 "Caveat Emptor" 2009-11-10
By Chris Eng (Clayton, CA United States)
If you do enough research you will realize Beheringer clones with very poor components various BOSS pedals.

When you buy one, you are gambling whether or not it will work properly.

This one didn't, but a replacement did and still works. The LED is obnoxiously bright though. Not good when you can't see your other pedals in the dark.

So, despite morality and questionable build quality, I am satisfied with it's analog delay capabilities (BOSS DM-3 Clone). If you can get one that works, it's worth the price. Or go to e-Bay and shell out $155 for the real deal.

 "It didn't even work!" 2009-05-04
By SubCuTaneoUS (Winter Haven, FL)
I put in a 9V battery.. three of them actually. The item didn't work. I put the batteries in the other effect pedal I just order and it worked fine. Meaning the batteries were not the problem. Each battery I put in was only in for a few moments but were SO HOT when I took them out they almost burnt me! The item smelled like burning plastic once I took them out. I was hoping just to find a pedal to hold me over until I could buy the delay pedal I couldn't afford at the moment,so my standard for satisfication was very low... it didn't even reach that. Maybe this was just a fluke but you get what you pay for and I feel like I didn't even get that. Buyer beware!

Great for somebody who is getting their first pedal. The looper will help you improve, and the delay effects are fun too. The power supply is worth considering, because this thing eats batteries like crazy. No problems yet.

 "Very nice" 2010-06-25
By G. Thomaz
Succinctly: does what it promises. All the delay functions work very well and the tap delay is a joy. It took a little to get used to all the settings but when I did this baby could make my guitar cry like a child.

The only bad part was that the looping function is a little short. When I read 20 seconds loop I thought it was going to be enough for a lot of stuff, but the first song I try to play with the looper--Maggot Brain by Funkadelic--was already too long for the looping function. I guess that was a mistake on my part, as the pedal does everything it promises (and does it pretty well, too).

 "Nice versatile pedal" 2010-02-18
By Robert Trujillo (Tucson Az)
Recently upgraded to a tube amp that unfortunately has no effects. Since pedals are so expensive I decided to go with the DL 8 to start with. Not only is there a number of delay functions, there is a modulated delay that gives a nice chorus type of effect. There's also a slapback delay that gives a reverb type of effect and lastly there's a 20 second looper. Don't get me wrong, this isn't going to completely replace a chorus, reverb or looper but it's a great starter pedal that lets you create a variety of sounds until you can fill out your pedals. The looper is very basic. You can't save loops and once you start a loop you can't stop it and then start it again so this may not be the answer if you want to be a one man band. You can loop up to 20 seconds and then overdub over it which is a lot of fun.

The other main reason I chose the DL8 is that other reviewers stated there was no loss of tone using the pedal. I finally upgraded to a tube amp and dont want my pedals robbing the tone. I would agree that the signal stays pretty solid using this pedal and I didn't notice any loss of tone during use. One downer is thing eats batteries really quick. The first 9v lasted only a 2-3 hours of time. I'm going to invest in the power supply or some sort of powered pedal board. The pedal itself is heavy as a brick and seems built solid. I think it will last a long time but time will tell. Overall, a solid buy and I'm very happy

"Great Delay sounds (4.5 stars)" 2009-12-29
By Joseph Rogero
There is a reason why this pedal is on so many pro guitarist pedal board. It is versatile and sounds great. I was torn between this one and DD-20. I liked the fact that the dd-20 was smaller and had a digital read out that gave beats per minute (a great feature for recording) but ultimately I liked the sound of the DL-4 better. To me it sounds less digital than the other digital delays. The tap tempo works great. It is a breeze to record with. I just use Ableton Live's metronome to tap the tempo in then everything is perfectly in sync. I agree with the previous reviewer who stated it's interfering with his personal life. I've been losing sleep since I got this thing. It's just too much fun to play with all the different delay models. My only complaints are that three presets are not enough (this thing has way to many cool sounds), I wish it had a digital read out that gave BPM, it doesn't come with an ac adapter, and I wish it was smaller. I tried out a bunch of different delay pedals and in this price range I think this is the best one.

By jef (Mpls, MN)
If you are a fan of the delay sound buy this product. 4.5 stars. Ive had it for about 2 weeks and its starting to interfere with my personal life. Any free moment I have all I want to do is go play with my new toy.

I cant say if the dl4 sounds exactly like the products its trying to emulate(never owned an echoplex, space echo, etc) but I can say it sounds GREAT. Super quiet when plugged in thanks to true bypass. Endless sounds . . . dial into the reverse delay and you feel like Jimi!

The only bad reviews Ive read are by people that dont even own it(I think they just bitchy too) My only complaint is that I dont have hours and hours of free time to truly delve into this pedal . . .but thats not Line Sixs' problem.

The construction seems really solid . . .Ive had 0 problems so far.

So in my humble opinion, anyone that likes delay and has 225$ to spend should buy this . . .you will not be dissapointed.

 "The Delay Pedal" 2010-03-02
By Rexomus (Chicago)
This pedal is awesome. Not only does the DD-7 offer standard dealy and echo it also has reverse delay, modulation, and loop functions. It's capable of looping up to 40 seconds of play which is a wonderful tool for writing two and three part harmonies or working out timing. This pedal is amazing and I highly recomend it for any guitar player. Most of my pedals are Boss because they only build their equipment to industrial strength and standards. This means their stuff is made to last. No flimsy plastics, cheap rubber, or faulty components or parts will cut it in Boss's supieror product line.

"delay bunch of setting but..1 usable setting" 2010-02-10
By Graham Morris (Virginia, USA)
Everyone has different tastes when it comes to delay, for me I was looking for a delay pedal that I could run out in stereo (which this has) and have some nice usable delay options.

The good: on a specific setting you can attain a nice managable delay, for a matisyahu or eric johnson type sound. There are multiple settings that are unmanageable and therefor unusable which I don't think add any value to the pedal, which is why i rated it 4 stars. A nice durable delay with 1 or 2 settings is all I get out of it.

"Great fun, versaitile and fairly simple" 2009-12-29
By aspiring saint (in the moment zone)
HOLD feature allows you to "record" individual "tracks" and overlap them on one another on the go--live! Dont get too ambitious though as the more "tracks" you add the more distorted the sound becomes. I haven't used expensive rack units etc., but this is great fun and versatility allows many different uses. Excellent value. Battery runs out fast so get an AC adaptor!

 "Boss DD-7 Delay Pedal" 2009-06-19
By I. M. Gabbard
This pedal is awesome. Like the guy above me said, this pedal has a lot to it for being so small. The 7 or 8 second delay is bit much and the only time I ever used it was when I first got it to hear it. The tone through this pedal is very natural sounding, although if you want, you can get feedback very easily and quickly with it as well. So far this is one of the best small delay pedals I have played with.

"Dear god.... i'm in way over my head here..." 2008-10-02
By Evan Anderson
I literally just took this pedal out of the box an hour and a half ago and it has already blown me away. I've only begun to scratch the surface of what this pedal can do, and i've made funky/weird loops of sound, bizarre cricket noises, long delays that instead of fading out actually get LOUDER with time. I dont know how else to say it, If you are looking for a delay pedal, you just found it. This thing can do anything.

It feels like the iPhone of delay pedals to me so far... like it can do all this crazy cool stuff... but oh yeah, it can also just do an echo too. (Wait, you can call people with an iPhone?)

I could have waited a week or so to really learn everything this pedal can do and write a detailed review of it's performance, but i dont feel i have to. It's the latest BOSS delay pedal... what else is there to say?

Also with the price range of 130-160 dollars its a huge bargin compared to other BOSS pedals that might pull off a similar effect such as the RC-2($180-200), or RC-20XL($240-300). Granted i know very little about the FULL capabilities of those pedals, but the DD-7 has up to 40 seconds worth of loop play in "Hold" mode. And the hold mode is so much more sophisticated that what I am familiar with... since previous to this pedal i have only tampered with the DD-3.

Sorry if I'm rambling, but seriously I'm in love with this pedal. Perhaps i will post a video demo of some of the weird junk you can do with it at some point.

 "Battery vs. a.c. adaptor" 2010-03-22
By Brian S. Nelson
On a brand new Duracell my DD400 will stay powered for longer than 2 hours (connected but on-and-off use) but for a gig I never use a battery in any effect that I'm using. Batteries are too variable and unpredictable. In my experience other pedals (Boss, MXR) burn through the batteries just about as quickly too. I would say definitely get an a.c. adaptor if you're gigging with any of these pedals or if you just don't like switching them out.

By Adam (Texas)
I do love this effects pedal. I have a lot of Behringer stuff. Yes, they are cheap and you get what you pay for. This delay pedal gets the job done and it has an awesome delay for U2 songs. Where the streets have no name is perfect with this pedal. Exact timing and everything. Just awesome.

It is limited to its functions, but it's good for the price.

I took one star off because it sucks the battery dead in a few hours. It won't even last through a gig whether it's on or off.

That's okay though. I bought the 1 spot 9V adapter and I use it for all my pedals. Never had a problem since then. They all power on just fine and power is a non issue. I recommend the "1 spot" whether you have Behringer pedals or not.

"You get what you pay for" 2008-04-22
By Hildsvfar (Illinois)
As much as people criticize Behringer for their cheap electronics, this actually sounds pretty good. I can see why people might hate it though, because the casing is cheap plastic and that makes it sort of difficult to get the battery cover on and off without breaking something. Other than that I'd say it's well worth the price though, $30 for a digital delay is pretty good if you're cheap. Its sound is pretty decent quality, and I'd say if you're looking for a digital delay pedal and you don't want to spend $100, buy this.
