Developed by the same sound design team that programmed the flagship Andromeda synthesizer, the Micron's presets cover a variety of genres, including many exciting new tonalities, as well as classic synth emulations. Ion programs can be transferred to and from the Micron via MIDI, and more new sounds will also be available from the Alesis website. This is an exciting time for analog-style synthesizers.  "Ok Distortion" 2009-12-31
By frenchiefellow
I got this pedal a couple of years ago for my birthday, and, for the most part, I've been happy with it when I play it with guitars.

First off, you can't really produce much of what I would consider authentic "Death Metal Distortion", the distortion is kind of heavy, but is not much heavier than some of the stuff you can get from a normal distortion pedal.

When I first got this pedal, it had an enormous amount of feedback, so much in fact that I had to turn the volume and master knobs on my amp to around 1 or 2. Thankfully, with time, the feedback was died out a bit. The sounds you can produce are decent, not great, but are good enough for $50.

I'm not much of a guitarist (even though I fool around with it), I'm a quite experienced bass player, and I must say this pedal sounds terrible with basses. When you play notes in succession, its hard to hear whether you are playing a chord or whether you are playing separate notes as they all mesh together. Most notes are too low (especially when you play 6 string like I do) to decipher and end up sounding like garbage. I do not recommend for a bass player.

Overall, its an okay pedal, kind of muddy though, good if you can't dish out for more expensive pedals, but it will do.

The death metal pedal works well with some amplifiers but can sound terrible with other amps. My biggest qualm with this pedal is that it does not have a gain knob to adjust the intensity of distortion. The distortion can be overbearing since it always has that death metal sound to it. I would recommend that you make sure it sounds good with your amp before purchasing.

 "Like it a lot" 2010-05-01
By Mark Wothe (Caracas, Venezuela)
Bought it for the vibrato since I can't afford a vintage BOSS but the chorus is very usable and saves up space on the pedal board. Seems very solid and hasn't caused me a problem. I like the speed range. Only wish it had the ability to change speed w/exp pedal. I think it was a very good price as well, cheaper than the music superstores.

I'd recommend to anyone looking for a true vibrato (not tremolo) and you get a pretty nice chorus to boot.

"BBE Mind Bender - good for what it does" 2008-12-16
By Willie S. Tyndall Jr. (North Carolina)
Tried this from an on-line purchase, thinking that a chorus-vibrato pedal would do what I wanted. I will be up front in that it did not allow my ear to "hear" what I wanted to hear. The product is well buil and rock solid. BBE has a good product in the chorus does get really lush and the vibrato is a true pitch bender. Do not confuse vibrato with tremolo (Fender style) as one changes the pitch and the other varies the output (on-off in either a sine wave or square block pattern). The latter is what most see as the Fender "vibrato". This pedal is a true pitch bender in that the wave form changes in frequency and length. If vibrato is your thing this pedal will work - please note and this is the main reason I did not keep it - BBE did not build this for both effects to be on at the same time. Good pedal hunting!

"Love from a chorus hater." 2008-03-17
By Luke R. Omalley (NYC)
Let me start by saying that I hate chorus. I think it is a nasty effect that sends your sound directly to the 80s. However, I do like it when it is completely over the top (nirvana).

With that said, I love this pedal; both the vibrato and chorus sides. They are incredibly expansive and deep with a lush analog sound. I am going to start using it on gigs immediately!! I can't recommend it enough.

 "Well worth the price." 2010-05-28
By T. Johnson (California)
For those complaining about non-functioning units, when I got mine I couldn't get any sound from the output. When I put the guitar cable in there was about 1/8th inch of room left between the jack and the pedal but it felt like it was in all the way. I tried pushing it in with a bit more force and it finally snapped in the rest of the way. Then the pedal worked fine. Now it snaps in with no effort. A great pedal, $33 for a brand new circuit and components vs. $160 for a 30 year old Boss DM-2. It really does sound amazing. If you are concerned about the plastic case, knobs and jacks, find someone with soldering skills to put it in a sturdier housing. No regrets. This pedal sounds as good any basic analog delay in my collection (EHX, Boss, Ibanez).

"i like this analog delay" 2010-02-25
By 1960s guy (Boston, MA USA)
i just bought the behringer vd 400. i wanted to use it for delay effects for vocals and it works well for that. for the $22 i paid for it, its a bargain--i've seen a lot of other analog delays in the $200 category-over priced to say the least.

my only complaint is that behringer pedals dont have an easy design to put the 9v battery in--you have to take the top off, which is a little difficult; but overall i am happy i bought it.

If you do enough research you will realize Beheringer clones with very poor components various BOSS pedals.

When you buy one, you are gambling whether or not it will work properly.

This one didn't, but a replacement did and still works. The LED is obnoxiously bright though. Not good when you can't see your other pedals in the dark.

So, despite morality and questionable build quality, I am satisfied with it's analog delay capabilities (BOSS DM-3 Clone). If you can get one that works, it's worth the price. Or go to e-Bay and shell out $155 for the real deal.

 "It didn't even work!" 2009-05-04
By SubCuTaneoUS (Winter Haven, FL)
I put in a 9V battery.. three of them actually. The item didn't work. I put the batteries in the other effect pedal I just order and it worked fine. Meaning the batteries were not the problem. Each battery I put in was only in for a few moments but were SO HOT when I took them out they almost burnt me! The item smelled like burning plastic once I took them out. I was hoping just to find a pedal to hold me over until I could buy the delay pedal I couldn't afford at the moment,so my standard for satisfication was very low... it didn't even reach that. Maybe this was just a fluke but you get what you pay for and I feel like I didn't even get that. Buyer beware!

"Good Analog Delay, Not What I Was Expecting" 2010-05-01
By D. Ludvickson-Luna (NJ)
I've never owned an analog delay before and after going back and forth between this and the Memory Boy, I decided to go with the CC. Just got the Carbon Copy the other day and spent about four hours messing around with it. The delay signal is very warm and rich sounding... it's actually got it's own tone, unlike a digital delay which just replicates your original signal. That said, I was initially a little disappointed in the CC; I was expecting echo madness and got something more like a well made, subtle studio effect. My biggest complaint with the pedal (so far... I've only owned it a few days) is that the when the delay is maxed out, the signal is so warm and subtle it gets lost in the mix and is pretty much useless. That's where the Digi Delay really worked wonders, but again this is a different kind of beast.

I opened up the back and messed around with the Modification Button's trim pots for Speed and Depth. Definitely worth doing, as the slight warbling tape effect of the MOD button was a bit too subtle to my taste. Turned all the way up it delivers a slight chorus type effect that isn't really noticeable until you allow your signal to ring-out. I'll be messing around with this a lot more.

I haven't had a chance to run the pedal through my tube amp yet, and I'm hoping that really improves the signal with the long delay times and lets this pedal really shine. I've heard nothing but good things about it and so far I'm about 50/50 on liking it. It works REALLY well to beef up your tone and give a bit of echo. So far that's probably the highlight of this pedal, is that it sounds very professional, not just a cheap echo-box. HOWEVER, what I was after was a bit more into outer-space, if I wanted to go there, and I'm going to consider getting my DOD Digi Delay/Sampler fixed for precisely that reason. Once I get that done, I really enjoy the tone of the MXR, so I'll probably run the MXR through the DOD and get the sound I'm after.

If anybody has any suggestions as how to improve any of these problems, please let me know!

Two Days Later...

Finally got to run the CC through my tube amp and it performed phenomenally. I don't know if this pedal needs a period of time to be "broken in," but it's now running perfectly and doing everything i expected of it and more. The oscillation of the MOD switch was more prominent than it's been before (I even had to open it up and reduce the speed... the width will probably have to be backed off a little too). The previous delay problems are gone and this thing is a serious monster! The most impressive thing about this pedal is still... the tone. Whether through a transistor (I practice through a Fender Princeton Chorus) or through a tube amp (Crate 50) this pedal will improve your tone like magic. I was really worried I was going to have to get my old DOD Digi Delay fixed... but after breaking this thing in and seeing what it can really do, there's no need for it. Buy this thing, open it up, mess with the MOD switch and enjoy. Well done MXR.

 "Great pedal!!!" 2010-04-22
By Tyrell19 (Virginia)
I have been Playing guitar for over 15 years. I have always loved a delay sound but could never really duplicate the sounds that I wanted to hear from my favorite bands. I have used a rack delay, the boss dd3, the boss dd6 and the line 6 dl4. The only one that even comes close is the Dl4, which is a great pedal in its own right, but for different reasons. The Carbon Copy is warm and has hands down the best delay sound I have ever heard. I play three main electric guitars... An american deluxe stratocaster (ash), an American standard Telecaster, and An Epiphone Les Paul through a Fender Deville amp. When I first plugged up and started to play my girlfriend, who usually views my guitar playing as a mild annoyance, came into the room asking what are you playing?? It sounds awesome.. I said Im playing a song i wrote years ago that you weren't so impressed with when i played it last week. It just sounds that good. It goes from a mild echo sound to a full sound storm when all the dials are at max. For any price this is a great pedal, but for $139.00usd it is a steal!!!

 "Sweet analog delay" 2010-04-17
By noisemaker (Evansville, IN)
MXR really hit a home run with this one... $150 is a decent price for any analog delay and this is a very good one, on a par with pricy boutique units. It's dark sounding, yes, but that's what I like to keep the delay sound nice and subtle. The delay is never the star of the show, the guitar playing is. Doesn't color the unaffected guitar sound at all that I can hear. I use it through a '65 Fender Deluxe reissue after a Fulltone overdrive pedal. I like it even better than the Deluxe's tube reverb for giving the sound general depth and atmosphere. I leave it on pretty much all the time. Great unit, only delay I will need for a long time. When MXR discontinues these, I bet they will get expensive on the vintage market.

 "luvit, luvit, luvit......." 2010-04-16
By Philip J. Kelley
I've had my Carbon Copy for about 1 year now. This thing is built like a tank. I like the versitility if this pedal. From a soft almost reverb feel to down right serious delay. It had a very smooth analog delay that doesn't sound digital at all. Plenty of range. As long as you put it in the right place in your chain of pedals you'll love this pedal. If you're a serious musician and need a delay pedal this one is it. Hands down.

"LOVE the sound and simplicity, but wish it had a tap tempo control" 2010-03-05
By Philip Hutchison
I've tried many, many delay pedals through the years, and this one sounds the best. I was really excited the first time I used it because I felt like I finally found the warm, smooth sounding delay I was looking for. It's not brittle or 'treble-y' like many of today's pedals, and is reminiscent of some of the sounds you'll hear on classic late 60s early 70s rock albums.

The Carbon Copy is an extremely simple pedal, which is nice when compared to many of today's multi-purpose delay pedals. It's brain-dead easy to use.

Like most MXR pedals, it's rugged and feels very durable. It has a small footprint and can easily fit in with your other pedals.

The only problem I have with it -- and the reason I don't give it 5 stars -- is that it's missing a tap tempo controller. Sure, I know it would ruin the simplicity of the pedal, but when I'm standing up playing guitar the last thing I want to do is lean down and try to adjust the delay speed to match the tempo of the music.

Otherwise, this pedal is FANTASTIC and a great addition to my pedalboard.

I should note that I also own the Line 6 DL4 Stompbox Delay Modeler, and I find the Carbon Copy MUCH easier to use, smoother sounding, and generally more fulfilling. Of course, the trade-off is that the DL4 is extremely versatile and can do many different jobs while the MXR only does one thing. But you know what? The MXR does its job really well, and for my tastes is often all I need. I unplugged my DL4.

"Best bang for your UniVibe buck!" 2010-04-21
By slimkennydee
I have tried other vibe pedals on the market, but the BBE Soul Vibe is the best one for me. I play Pink Floyd style music and this pedal does it well. Keep in mind; this pedal is NOT a Leslie rotating speaker cabinet, not a Vox univibe, nor is it a Dunlop univibe. So don't expect it to be. It IS a very good sounding Vibe box. That can cover many styles of music at a very good price. If you are looking for a good univibe stomp box. I highly recommend giving the BBE Soul Vibe some consideration.

Does exactly what you would expect. Nice warm, smooth tone. Sounds more like a $200 boutique pedal. Its analog circuitry really gives it a true vintage feel. Ive played the Dunlop Uni-Vibe, and the VooDoo Labs MicroVibe, and this pedal is as good, if not better than both its pricier cousins. The indicator light is actually much more useful (and pretty) than i thought it would be. I can say with complete confidence i have never gotten a better bang for my buck with any pedal (and i own many pedals!)...70 bucks!?!? What a steal!

"Best bang for a decent univibe pedal" 2009-01-23
By Carver (Upstate NY)
I've been looking for a decent univibe for a while now. The problem is that some of them are very expensive for an effect that you may use on occasion. The Soul Vibe is very simple and has a very warm univibe effect. Very Trower/Hendrix like. Through Amazon you can get these for around $100 and that's the best deal you'll get on a quality univibe. Despite the goofy graphics the pedal is well built and has true bypass. This is my first BBE pedal but after getting this one I'd get another one in a second. I've got my eyes set on the two timer analog delay. Based on my experience with the Soul Vibe and everything else I've heard, BBE pedals really seem to be really quality peices for not a lot of money.

 "Basic Rotary Univibe" 2009-01-07
By Brian Pan Sample (NY, USA)
Built solid. Comes with an adapter and battery. Simple controls. Internal tone pot set at factory, and actually is just fine. You can dial in some nice SRV sounds ala little wing, or something less rotary shifting into hendrix territory. Trower and Floyd settings, that ain't too shabby. You can set it for a nice subtle shimmer, which I use when shifting into a chorus, to just add something different from the verse. Or you can get Leslie effect. It's got 2 stages, which is sort of like an old MXR phase 45. It's far creamier than the current MXR 90, which is a 4 stage phaser, which has, to me, an unwelcome aggressive distortion.

Overall, if you're looking for a univibe, phase or rotary effect that's extremely portable (don't expect it be like a rack unit or a stand alone leslie) and accept it for what it is, you won't be disappointed.

My current rig Telecaster > planet waves chromatic tuner > boss AW-3 > mxr super comp > bbe green screamer > proco you dirty rat > bbe soul vibe > boss dd-3 > combo with reverb

"Poor quality even for practice." 2010-01-25
By Randall Laclaire (New York State)
As far as construction goes, this appeared to have been built solidly. The design itself looked quite nice and the features were easy to use. Unfortunately, even as a practice amp goes, this one is poor at best. I've been playing guitars for nearly 30 years. I've had everything from 5 watt battery powered amps to stage amps. I received this package today, 1/25/10. I removed it from the box, set up, and did what any good musician does: I tried it with no effects, no pre-amps, and nothing inline. Just a clean guitar to amp connection. At volume settings below 5 it played nice and clean. Once you hit 5 or higher, it breaks up (more as you increase the volume). It begins as a light fuzz at five, and turns to a crackle by 10. It's rated at 15 watts power and has an 8" 30w minimum rated speaker with a max rating of 125 watts. While this makes it durable, it also limits sound. I'm guessing that the speaker is actually too much for the amp circuit to drive, but I could be wrong. Sadly, my son's 10 watt fender squier practice amp overpowered this amp. With the Behringer set to 10 on the main volume and 10 on the drive, the little tiny Squier 10 watt amp overpowered it while the Squier was set to 3, without the drive on.

To make matters worse, I could actually talk more loudly than the amp. Granted, this is only a practice amp and it really should not be able to rattle the windows, and that is fine. But it should be able to at least keep up with a 10 watt amp. My son likes to play with me, and I was hoping that this would make a nice match for his practice amp so I wouldn't have to ramp down all my equipment to keep him in hearing range. Unfortunately (again) this amp wasn't even able to do that.

I then tested this with my most basic pedals, and then eventually with my RP350 multi-effects pedal. ANY type of effect I tried simply caused the speaker to give up the ghost. The speaker is so unresponsive that distortion caused it to lose sounds left right and center. If I tried to play a simple blues solo, I'd lose about every other note due to the speaker not being able to keep up with the sounds being produced.

For this reason, I'd never recommend this amp to anyone but a child with a cheap guitar who can't play more than "Mary Had a Little Lamb." (And I don't mean SRV's version)

I didn't even bother to try it with my mic for vocals because there was simply no point.

If the company that produces it can get it to at least equal the power of most other 15 watt practice amps, they'll have a nice piece of equipment on their hands. The cabinet was solid, the controls worked smoothly, nothing was loose or rattling. It's actually very attractive looking. It has a "modern" feel to it with a more classic look.

 "Bang for the buck!" 2010-01-09
By T. Fritts
At only $60 I was a little apprehensive about this amp, but decided to give it a try. A local music store owner offered that if I weren't satisfied, he'd take the value of it out of the cost of an amp I've had my eye on in his shop.

It will not be needed! This amp is a little shocker! My Strat Clone sounds downright sexy through this thing. And, small small changes in the settings make a difference with this one! With a similarly priced amp in the shop, it had to have big changes in settings to make small differences. With the Behr, the change of going from 2 to halfway between 2 and 3 gives a little change. Sensitivity is not an issue at all.

It also feels quite durable. I wouldn't throw it off a building, but it should tolerate being chucked in the back seat of the car for a jam at a friends house. And, if loud is your thing, then it should suit you nicely. I've already gotten it loud enough to get a grouchy phone call from my neighbor. ;) On the mellow settings it gives good, and when the switches are set to the Calif/Hot setting, it still works great!

For $60 at this level of quality, it's one of the best deals I've gotten off Amazon!

"Great for practicing at home" 2009-12-30

Granted I went from a 10 year old squire amp to this behringer amp, but the sound quality is much better. This is a very basic practice amp, but I like the sound options that is has. I would recommend this for people practicing at their home, but definitely not if you plan to play out anywhere.

 "Good for just starting" 2009-10-19
By J. Vuocolo (Philadelphia, PA)
Right now i absolutely hate this amp, like i want to just through it out the window of my house. But that is because i am actually some what good at guitar now. When i bought it i had no idea how to play, or even how distortion worked. So when i got it i thought it was really cool with how it had presets for different sounds, but right now i want an amp that i can fool around with a bit more. So my suggestion is get it but get rid of it in a year, cuz thats how long it took for my to blow out. But it is great for just starting.

 "Great inexpensive practice amp" 2009-08-01
By Shreddin' Mike (San Francisco, CA United States)
Like others here it's been years since I've really played my old electric guitar. Plugged it in to my old Ampeg amp and found it was dead after years of abuse then neglect. The other reviews on this really do reflect fact, so this review can't really add much - this is a great-sounding little practice amp! Better than my Ampeg ever was! It does have a bit of a hum but then the noise of my strat overwhelms that - need humbuckers I guess. The different distortion effects combined with the gain and three tone controls are also fun to play with. As an added bonus it gets loud enough to annoy nearby neighbors! Heh heh...
