 "Nice Little Amp." 2007-05-07
By Corey (Florida)
I don't know why this has such a weak rating. I am a musician thats on the road once in awhile. I use this to warm up real quick before going out, or if I'm writing music and want to hear something other than the strings ringing when I'm by the computer. This has really helped me with alot of stuff. It's not a amp to buy if you wanna use it like you're primary amp. It's just a little toy to warm up on or carry around with you when you need it. Like if you where to go on vacation and wanna play real quick it's there. The sound isn't too bad for a 1 watt amp. I personally love this little amp. It's well worth $40.00 bucks in my opinion.

"It is what it is." 2006-12-20
By Frank (El Paso, TX)
Ok. This is not an amplifier to play Madison Square Garden with. It is perfect to warm up with, or to use (as I do) in audition situations in studio rooms for film and musical theater.

I find it surprisingly loud for its small size, and have had no problem with the battery staying put. However, it does (the battery) run out a bit quickly.

Again, this is a great convenience to pop in a duffle bag and use to warm up with, audition with (for theater/film)and practice on, if you live in say, an apartment and can't blow down the house with noise. I still have to tone the volume down in my place in NYC.

If you really expect more than that for forty bucks, well....You get what I mean.

"Oh my word this amp is terrible." 2006-01-01
By Alex Kronish (Stanhope, New Jersey)
I bought this amp because it was cheap and small. Worst 20 dollars I ever spent. First of all, it sounds like absolute crap, no matter how you adjust the tone and volume knobs. Secondly, I had to break a CD jewel case and take some plastic and wedge it into the battery compartment so that the battery would work all the time. Otherwise no power would get to it at all.

And it's much smaller than I thought it would be, too. Which in itself isn't too bad, but it's smaller than a paperback copy of "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" by Douglas Adams.

I use it as a bookend now. It's not even a good bookend because it's so light.

Avoid.

 "Don't bother" 2005-11-23
By jaet
I was extremely disappointed in this amplifier. It is small and cute-looking, but very cheaply made. The transistor battery connection is shoddy and the power to the amp is disrupted whenever the battery wiggles, which is quite often. In fact, I can't even comment on the sound, although I wasn't expecting much for the price, because the power pops on and off so often. The problem seems to be that the battery connection depends on pressure, but the case isn't tight enough to keep the termini engaged. The entire battery compartment is a design that I've never seen before with transistor batteries. Picture the usual transitor battery snappy-thing if they decided that wires and snaps were too expensive.

I tried to wedge increasingly large pieces of paper into the battery compartment to create enough pressure to keep the power going, but it became too much of a balancing act. Any time my son wanted to practice, we had fifteen minutes of fiddling with the amp to try to get it to work.

Don't waste your money on this unit. The manufacturer sure didn't waste any money making it. You can get a small, quality revamped amp for just $10-15 dollar more.

Marshall’s exclusive, groundbreaking FDD circuitry plus 30 watts of power for killer tones. The MG30FX includes a 10 inch speaker, four switchable channels, and a 3-band EQ that lets you shape your tone. FDD (Frequency Dependent Damping) circuitry gives the MG4 Series the unbelievable depth of sound and unique feel of their legendary, all-tube amps. It does this by emulating the way an all-tube power amp interacts with the speaker(s) it is driving. Plus the easy to use panel controls include gain, followed by a three-band EQ, volume and Master Volume. On the MG30FX guitar amp combo, the 4 channels are Clean, Crunch, OD1 and OD2. Switching seamlessly between channels is easy with the push button controls. Plus the amp features two modes: Preset and Manual. Preset mode stores the position of all the controls except the master volume while the manual mode is the actual physical position of the controls. Settings for each channel can be customized and saved for instant recall. The MG30FX provides two simultaneous effects, Reverb and one of these four digital effects (Chorus, Phaser, Flanger or Delay). The Delay can be manually set using the front panel Tap button. The combination line out/headphone out features speaker cabinet emulation, giving you full Marshall sound when recording or practicing through headphones. A line input allows you to play along with MP3 and CD players. The optional Stompware footswitch provides seamless transitioning from sound to sound and tap tempo, plus a built-in tuner with LCD display.

 "Great blues amp!" 2010-04-03
By invisible (United States)
This amp has 4 programmable presets plus a manual setting. Since I'm transitioning from acoustic blues to electric I've been impressed from day one over its #2 preset, a low gain crunch with some reverb. I'll probably get around to resetting all the other presets to a similar sound. But they can be put back to factory mode in just a couple of seconds if desired.

I must say this amp really works better than any of the cheap ones I've listened to and as good as most of the amps I've heard which cost twice as much.

 "Super Amp" 2010-02-12
By James E. Davis (Daleville, Indiana)
The Marshall MG30FX Guitar combo Amp is Great! Great price for what this amp does with sound, I purchased the Marshall foot pedal also for this amp, and from a beginner to a Pro this 30 watt amp does it all. I can't believe how loud it can get. It's the perfect amp for a studio like mine to practice in, what else can I say, It's a MARSHALL!!

"Power House for Size and Money" 2010-01-30
By Frank M. Coury (Longmont, CO USA)
I was more then happy with the performance of this amp. It went beyond my expectations. The sound is clean and crisp. The speaker was able to handle any distortion I threw at it and it stayed clean and crisp. The output is much more then I expected for a 30 watt amp. I haven't played an electric guitar in years and wanted to get back into it, I knew I couldn't go wrong with Marshall. They were the top of the line when I was a kid and at 55 now, it still is top of the line. This is a great amp for the money. I could see using this amp for a garage band or playing in bars. I am really have a fun time with this amp. Hope this helps anyone looking to buy an amp for the first time or someone getting back into playing again.

"Classic Marshall sound for a solid state" 2009-11-20
By Drone Bee (Chicago)
I have always been a dedicated tube amp user, although I am stunned by the new MG series by Marshall.

What is so amazing,is the price!!!! It's clean tone,I believe, is just as good as an all valve, whilst the overdrive is pure metal bliss. The delay is so efficient that one really doesn't require an additional pedal.

If anyone has been an all valve devotee, should at least check this range out, i think you will be pleasantly surprised
