The STAGEPAS 300 was the first in the line of complete compact PA system offerings from Yamaha. It was designed to give quality minded musicians, performers, speakers and other presenters a solution for their smaller performances, without sacrificing high fidelity and professional appearance. The mixer of the STAGEPAS 300 also contains the two 150 watt digital power amplifiers, and it resides in the back of one of the two passive loudspeakers that complete the system. The other loudspeaker has a convenient accessory compartment for the included speaker cables or other gear. This mixer has 8 total inputs. 4 are mono and can accept either microphone or line level instruments, and there are two stereo inputs to accept line level stereo sources like keyboards or CD players. Digital reverb is included onboard the mixer along with EQ or tone controls. Good value. Battery lasts a long time. At least 3 hours but haven't run it out yet. good sound. Cant crank it up too much but adequate. Fairly well constructed. cover for ipod device port can get lost easily. I use if for mobile DJ work mainly for wedding ceremonies on the beach where AC power is difficult to get to. Comes with microphone but one must speak directly into the mic from no less than 1 inch away to hear adequately outside.

i bought this for my outdoor beach wedding to use to amplify our officiant and us while we said our vows, etc. and also to play music for the ceremony from my ipod. this speaker works amazingly well with clear, LOUD sound. its very easy to use, very adjustable, lightweight and sturdy. and it charges your ipod! the battery lasts really long, we used it all day tailgaiting on the beach and it didnt run out! i havent run it down so i dont know exactly how long it lasts, but it outlasted our party! this product was PERFECT for my beach wedding, cheaper than renting equipment and so easy to use that it helped my day go smoothly!

Well designed and sturdily constructed unit. Very little noticible distortion when cranked up to full volume. Because of iPod capability, it won't be sitting around waiting for the next public speaking or singing event. It'll be in the garage or back yard playing away for hours and hours. The included microphone is of nice quality. One of the most pleasing purchase I've made.

I actually received a defective product at first, but Amazon's amazing customer service and return policy quickly (amazingly quick, in fact!) corrected the problem. The new product appears to work well, and my wife (for whom I bought the amp) is happy with the new unit so far. All in all, a good purchasing experience -- but mainly thanks to Amazon, rather than to the product itself. The amp may be fine, but I can't help but feel hesitant about the manufacturer's quality control after the first device's failure. For some reason, it seems a lot of companies are skipping the quality assurance stage these days, and frankly, that's getting tiresome.

Excellent product... I purchased this for our Yoga group. We used it for the first time today and everybody liked it so much. It is really loud and we had to turn it down! Very rugged construction and good looking with all the chrome trims. A bit heavy to lift but it has wheels, so not much of a problem. Side handles are also very handy to pick it up and load into car. A big 'thank you' to Amazon for quick delivery. It arrived in 2 days even though I had not purchased the expedited shipping!

As promising as this product sounds, based on our experience it will be short-lived. Here are some facts about the unit and Ion Audio's business practices (as of 21Dec09) that you should know BEFORE PURCHASING:

1. 90 Day Warranty - that's about how long it took for our product to systematically malfunction. Our teenagers and we used the unit less than 10 times and never outdoors. You might even say it was pampered. And yet, it won't hold a charge and now emits no sound at all (regardless of the input device; in our case an iPod(G4 Nano, G1 iPod, and/or G2 iPod Video), microphone, and electric bass guitar).

2. Battery - oddly enough, according to Ion's own technical support staff (whose contact information was very difficult to find) you can NEVER overcharge the battery or allow it to drain completely, else the battery CANNOT BE REVIVED! Honestly, who builds batteries like that anymore or incorporates them into consumer electronics? We can't think of a single appliance that we own that doesn't self regulate. Furthermore, what human is so fastidious as to ever be able to monitor battery life with such expertise? Honestly, unless the device came with a meter, one would never know how close to overcharging or undercharging he actually is. And yet, one slip up and the unit is toast? That's an old-fashioned technology at best.

3. Repairability - finally, if you're going to install a battery of this sort or any other component that is likely to fail within 90 days, design and manufacture the unit in a repairman-friendly fashion(eg. easy to access compartments and swappable components). This unit required 22 wood screws to be removed for diagnostic purposes alone and nearly everything inside was soldered. As for the speaker, forget about ever getting to it without destroying the cabinet. You'll have to dissassemble the entire unit.



Take our advice, stay away from this product until the company addresses these 3 basic issues. We still love the concept, but this product is poorly executed. (Note: As far as we can tell, the: (1) Ion Audio iPA03 Portable PA System, (2) Alesis Transactive Mobile/Portable PA System and (3) PYLE PCMX240I Battery Powered Portable PA System are identical and probably manufactured by the same company, so beware. A lemon by any other name is still a lemon.)

We purchased the Ion Portable PA system for my daughters 11 birthday party. We had a disco dance party in the basement. The product works great. The ability to have two microphones working at the same time with separate volume controls was fun. The sound is very good, not like a Bose machine but good. Battery life seems strong. We have not used it outside yet but I would imagine it will work just fine. Very heavy duty construction but rolls like luggage. Too heavy for a young person to lift up. I would definitely buy the product again.
