The Alesis Control Pad USB/MIDI Percussion Pad Controller is a compact live performance instrument and an equally effective studio–based MIDI percussion programming tool. The Control Pad features 8 velocity–sensitive pads with a responsive rubber surface for excellent stick response and expressive performance, as well as 2 trigger inputs for connecting external pads such as the Alesis Drum Pad and Cymbal Pad expansion kits.  "Good idea, poor execution" 2010-08-23

This product was a good idea, but the execution of its construction is poor. It is responsive, does what it says, works relatively well as a controller. Problem one was the power, I actually had to send it back to alesis because there was a problem with the jack on the unit. Not a big deal. But the pads, while responsive, are a pain to adjust. The two bottom right pads on mine trigger at the same time (when you hit one, the other triggers too), and I've spent more time trying to adjust this (following the directions) than actually playing the darn thing. Even when I got it, I spent hours adjusting the other pads so they didn't trigger all at once, but those last two I can't fix. I can't even trigger them separately in order to adjust them! After having this for about two years with light use (and, to reiterate, more time adjusting it than actually playing it), I've basically given up on those two pads ever working right.

You get more than you pay for with this Alesis ControlPad. It's an excellent addition to an electronic studio or a drum set. The rubber drum pads are velocity sensitive and offer a realistic bounce. It can be used with software over USB (such as BFD lite, which is included) or it can be used with a hardware device that accepts MIDI input.

I love my Hercules RMX, but as my shows are getting bigger I'm starting to produce some of my music and using more effects so I switched to the Steel. I love this mixer as I can program up to 12 effects and works great as a video mixer without paying the $6 grand for the pioneer. If I get that big, maybe I will cough up the money for the pioneer, for now this is under $250 and works great. I may one day get an effects controller to plug into my denon, for now this is the best of both worlds.

I used the UCA202 for getting audio in/out of a laptop and to record live audio. The laptop only had a mono mic in and headphone out so the Behringer is a great low cost yet good quality option to give you access to external sound card functions. It can record CD quality of 44.1KHz 16 bit, up to 96KHz 24 bit DVD quality. What also makes it useful is that you can monitor what's going into the computer with its headphone output. The gain of the RCA output seems a little low, but that isn't a problem when I move wav files to my editing computer. Stereo in, stereo out, digital conversion, and monitoring.... works great for a low cost and simple recording solution.

I bought it to convert >2,000 cassette tapes and vinyl records to digital on my new laptop for later burning CD's or just saving on computer. (This would not have been necessary if HP had spent a few bucks and installed a line-in jack on its laptop). Using the Behringer, the sound was much better than the lousy plugs and jacks HP provided, with the additional benefit of providing line-in. Set-up and use were very easy. I'm very pleased, especially for the price.

I purchased this unit to play music from my laptop through my stereo system. The sound quality from the headphone output jack on the laptop was not that great, so I hooked up the U-Control to play music through my stereo. The quality of the playback is pretty much perfect without any of the cracks or pops I used to hear. I am not using this for recording, just playback through my stereo. I had hoped to use the optical digital output, but all my inputs have already been taken up by other components. Fortunately, the sound is great with just the analog outputs. The design of the unit supports recording and playback. I would like to see a more compact product for just playback since I don't need the recording capability (hence the 4 vs. 5 stars).

This little device is more than worth the money. I run a Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1280S Powered Mixer into the Behringer 1202 12 channel desktop mixer($80)into the UCA202 into my computer. The recording is awesome. My recording playback sounds like its live.



I use a lot of Behringer equipment and no, I don't work for Behringer. I'm on a budget. That means little money.



My friends say, "Duh, oh, well, Behringer is built cheap and is junk." And I say, "Duh, huh, really? I've got better sound than you, a lot more equipment to power my show, it has never broken down, and I paid a LOT less than you did."



In fact, I use Behringer XM8500 mics ( 3 pack for $60 ). I was playing a gig at a small pub. A friend who swears by Sure mics asked if he could do a song on my break. I said sure. When he was done, he said, I LOVE this mic. The sound is awesome. Nuff said.

I've only used it a couple times - but no trouble with it. All buttons

work fine. It is very convenient - saves getting up and pushing buttons

I am very pleased with the remote control for my H4n. All the controls I need are present, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that there are LEDs on the control to indicate operating mode, one of which changes color when the record level is too high. Very nice! Also unexpected (but appreciated) was the extension cord that came with the control. My only concern with this product is its cord, which appears a bit flimsy. Time will tell if the cord is durable enough for my application.

This remote is nothing special other than it works with the Zoom H4n recorder. The H4n recorder is an amazing multi-track recorder that can record mono, stereo or surround sound music of musical instruments or other sound source. It is sold at a very good price compared to its capabilities. However, the H4n has the unavoidable fault of having sensitive microphones that pick up all sounds, including those sounds of pushing bottons on the recorder. I believe this remote control should have been made part of the H4n package instead of being a relatively high cost accesory. The remote works well and does eliminate the noises caused by touching the recorder, but you still need to be careful that movement of the wire when using the remote is not picked by the recorder's sensitive microphones. If the remote were added as part of the recorder package for $10, I am sure people would still buy the recorder at the higher price. I am just not happy about paying $40 for an accessory that is nowhere near that in absolute value. It is just a matter of psychology and marketing methods. I think there is some price for the recorder that includes a remote that would result in addional sales and profit even though the margin might be slightly less. But what do I know, they got me to buy the recorder and later to buy the remote as well. In total, I still got a good value. For those musicians who are not familiar with the H4n, I would encourage them to look for it on the web because it is truly a value in quality portable recording. After you buy it, you will pay $40 for a remote as well.
