"Pod Mount makes great product better" 2010-07-17
By Ron Chibnik
I really like my POD X3 and wanted the bracket to make it more accessible in my rehearsal space - I like the fact that it mounts securely to a mic stand. Placing it under the amp strap is also an attractive option. This is a sturdy bracket that mounts any of the larger bean-shaped PODs - as I said, I have an X3 but the XT and Pod 2 should fit as well.

Two things I noticed:

- As others indicated the rubber inserts do not stay put, and you only get four of them, so be careful not to lose them. I couldnt think of a way to secure them permanently to the bracket but there might be a way using glue and washers.

One thing that is not clear from any of the pre sale information that I found is that the bracket can be permanently mounted using 6/32 x 3/4" screws. The Line6 site has some information about this but it is not clear. The screws are not included so you just have to pick them up at a hardware store. 1/2" screws might work as well - I spaced a nut between the head and the bracket. THe POD and POD XT aparently have threaded holes on the bottom that line up with the holes on the bracket. The X3 has no threads, but the screws work. This secures the bracket to the POD nicely.

Second thing I noticed is some people had problems with the mic mount bolt Line6 provides. I noticed that there are threads at one end of the bolt, and this had to be at the bottom in order to get a good hold on the mic stand threads. I tightened mine with a pliers but this might not be necessary.

I could see velcro'ing a mouse pad to the bottom as someone here suggested in order to get better traction using the POD on a desk.

I'm very happy with the bracket and recommend it for any POD owner. It places the POD at a very useful angle whether on a surface, amp or mic stand.

Hope this is helpful.

"A great way to make your POD more accessible" 2010-05-12
By S. Lawrence
Great stand for your POD, works as described. I have mine mounted on a mic stand which puts it within easy reach when playing. I can see why some have complained about the little rubber feet, they do not attach very securely to the base. I could see losing them if I were to take the pod on and off the stand often. Personally I leave mine on the mount all the time so I have had no issue's with them at all.

"What's up with the rubber feet?" 2009-12-02
By Diana De Avila (Malta, NY USA)
This accessory has the potential to be such an AWESOME addition to my Line 6 PODxt. I bought it imagining that it would make working and traveling with my pod easy and more ergonomic. Here's the main problem: the removable rubber feet have a hard time staying put.

I have owned my PodXT since 2006 and have had the mount just as long. I have to tell you that I have lost and found these little rubber feet since that time. The PodXT will NOT stay anchored for long in the mount because of the way the rubber feet anchor to the mount. They come undone very easily and I cannot tell you how many times my PodXT has crashed to the ground because of slight movements. That's not a fun sight! Lucky for me, the PodXT is very durable.

I recommend some re-engineering of the Pod Mount to make those rubber feet PERMANENT. It's been a hassle. Still, I use the mount when I can but am always bothered by those little feet. If I lose one (which I almost have), I'll be out of luck.

I love Line6 but hope they can re-engineer this product. So good conceptually except for the one factor - those darn removable feet!

 "Works Great" 2009-11-03
By Robert E. Cooper (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
My POD mount and X3 sit on my desktop at the perfect angle. I velcro'd two mouse pads together with the "sticky" side out and set the POD on them 'cause the metal mount would slide around my desktop without them.

Yes, the POD is NOT securely attached to the mount. And yes, the little rubber feet could come off. But, for all intents and purposes, it works great. On stage, on a mic stand or on top of an amp, you could lift the POD off the stand and lose one or more of those little feet in the dark. But for $19, it's more than worth it in the studio.

 "Necessary evil" 2008-12-08
By Todd D. Rostalski (Bothell, WA)
The rubber posts fall out, the Pod is almost impossible to put on the rubber posts, if they stay in place, and I have no idea what the chrome screms are for because they have loosened almost instantly on every mic stand I have used them with.

 "Perfect for me!" 2009-12-06
By anonymous
I've been playing guitar for 15 years now, and I've had a few different amps and heaps of stomp boxes over the years. Nothing will ever replace a real amp, or analogue stomp boxes, and I'm not claiming this little gadget will. So here's my situation and my impression of the Line 6 Pod 2.0:

I live in an apartment. My amps are long since gone (needed the money, so I sold them) but I really wanted something to plug into. Buying an amp really wasn't an option, unless I also wanted to find a new place to stay. I worked at Guitar Center years back and I remembered toying with these during the down time. So I picked one up a few months ago. I've been running it through my stereo system, and for what I do with it, I really can't complain.

The various amp models are all decent. You're not going to get a true Boogie or Marshall stack sound out of this. It does well enough so you can tell what it's emulating, but that's it. The special effects are nice. Simple to use and very functional. I really like all the knobs it has on it, as it allows you to sculpt your tone.

You'll hear some people complain about this. "It sounds sterile" or "That's not what a Vox sounds like..." Well, they're not wrong, but anyone looking for a pure sound out of a $200 digital device can't be that bright. The Pod gets the idea across, and it does a good job doing so.

I recommend the Line 6 Pod if:

*You live in an apartment and you can't have a real amp without getting evicted

*You live with other people and jam it out at night or when other people need quiet

*You're trying to record music and you want a variety of amp sounds and don't have a lot of money

*You enjoy like gadgets with lots of knobs and tons of different sounds to experiment with

 "Don't Buy This Device!" 2009-06-21
By B. Scalise (West Covina, CA USA)
I've owned a Line 6 POD 2.0 for a couple of years now. I was looking for something a little more robust than my Digitech Genesis 1. The POD came highly recommended, was not inexpensive, and so I figured the unit must be good. That evening when I plugged it in, I was anticipating an experience somewhat similar to what I'd had using other similar devices by Digitech, Boss, & Zoom. What I experienced was several hours of disillusionment and frustration. The device is real easy to plug in and get sound out of, the same as the other devices I'd used. The problem was the sound I got out of the POD 2.0. It did not sound good. The sonic deficiency is difficult qualify, but essentially, the unit sounds flat & unconvincing. Similar to the effect you get if you wire speakers or guitar pickups out of phase: the sound you get is constantly trying to cancel itself out with only partial success. You get a hollow sound, and with speakers, you lose most of the definition, including the ability to isolate where the sound is coming from. With the POD 2.0, I knew where the sound was coming from and I didn't like it. I chalked up my experience to user error. Surely the problem lay with me. I figured the unit is SO capable, that its complex, and since its new to me, I just didn't know how to tweak it into acceptable auditory form. As loathe as it was, I broke out the manual. I lined up all the shortcut hint-cards that came with the unit, logged onto the Web, and sat down to learn how to properly use the device. I spent days reviewing every line in the manual. I read between the lines just in case there was some piece of universal knowledge that somehow wasn't bestowed upon me. I read forums, and opinions, and lots of other stuff. I input custom patches created by others. I tried different guitars, cables, audio amplifiers, speakers, and had other musically-trained ears listen to the output from the POD. The inescapable conclusion was that the sound the POD 2.0 produces is crud. The unit is very solidly constructed. It comes with quite a manual (though it does take more space on its pages bragging about how wonderful it is than I would like to see in a manual). The switches and knobs and buttons and lights all work very well. It sports a gorgeous paint job. It just doesn't perform its primary duty adequately.

At the risk of sounding like I just hate Line 6, I'll add that the interface ergonomics of the unit, i.e. the way the controls function, the guides painted for the various options, is counter-intuitive. Sure, after memorizing the manual the device is easy enough to use, but what rock-n-roller has the time (or inclination) to read the manual? The other devices I have, Digitech Genesis 1, several Zoom multi-effect boxes, Boss & Ibanez effect boxes, Rockman II, and on and on, can all be operated without reading the manual, simply by utilizing the minimum of instruction silk-screened on their cases. The Digitech is dead simple. It has a knob, it tells you what the knob does, and has a description painted on the case for each possible setting. Not the POD.

Both of these issues are inexcusable. For a company as full of themselves as Line 6 is (as evidenced by the boasting going on in the manual), you'd think they'd actually pay attention to the basics and produce something with a modicum of usefulness.

I didn't return the unit, though I wish I had. Even after all those days reading and experimenting with the POD, I still figured it was me. So I kept at it off and on for several more months without even achieving sound as good as I got from my Zoom (straight out of the box with no adjustment). With the popularity of Line 6's guitars and modeling amplifiers, I've tried episodically to figure out where I'm going wrong configuring the POD 2.0. I've come to realize where I went wrong was in purchasing the device.

 "poor quality control" 2009-05-04
By Steven D. Glenn (Brooklyn, NY USA)
I purchased a Line Pod a while back. The first thing I noticed was the sound of a loose screw rattling around inside. Later, after only about 30 hours of use, the effects started fading in and out. It's now to the point where the effects are not produced and I've given up using the Pod and I just now feed my guitar directly into my amp. Needless to say I've been very disapointed with this purchase.

 "The Red Kidney Bean" 2007-12-29
By Mr. Cw Corway (UK)
This is one modeler which really does kick I have tried a number of these so called modelers and the Line 6 POD certainly does come at the top.I have used this mostly for home use and have not yet taken it out to gigs but shortly this is going to happen.

The unit is dead handy as it does not need an amplifier to work it i have this running through a HIFI as it is usually needed to practice new material and sits there in a convenient space on the desk.

The manual that comes with it explains all the different types of amps that it can emulate even the very expensive Messa Boogie amp is in here so to get that perfect Santana sound its here baby! Also on this unit you have a direct Amp A.I.R Mode so you can see what the requiredsound is like for an open or closed backed amp.

The manual that comes with it is very thick i thought there could never be that much to read about this unit and you will find it is in different languages hence the size of it.

Be very wary of one important aspect of this unit. Although there is some information concerning this unit and the aspect i will mention shortly it is not very well placed and the novice could end up with a unit which is totally useless.

The aspect deals with the Pedal Board that can be connected to the POD 2.0.

You must be aware that if you have the old Floorboard or FB4.

The Floorboard which came out with the original POD will not work on the POD 2.0. The POD 2.0 has an FBV Pedal labled connection where the older version had pedal connection instead.I don't favour the Ethernet connection either as this to some might be tricky to plug or unplug although once the plug is in it cannot be easily pulled out unless the lug has snapped off the ethernet plug itself. I have no gripes with this unit and would recommend it to anyone however be aware of the type of pedal which can be connected to it as this could be a costly mistake.

 "breaks easily, fussy" 2010-07-16

 "can't use it" 2010-07-15
By Bookman (mississippisssiippi)
i can't use the pocket pod because the spring and room reverb on the pocket pod are too short for me. i need at least a medium hall, this is a make or break thing for me, and on top of that, the pocket pod sounds brittle to my ears, and makes my fender strat sound plastic.

I could look past the tone problems if it just had a better reverb, for $150, you'd think it would have something better.

if you don't care about reverb, then i would say this unit COULD be useable to you. one other issue is that the presets are not organized to my liking. i didn't find the "browse by style" useful, and the "browse by band" is even worse, you have no idea what kind of sound you're going to get.

i just thought the pocket pod would at least have one nice sounding clean, and a nice sounding crunch. keep it basic right. i didn't find either. i would honestly say try digitech instead.

"Great Silent Practice Tool and More!" 2010-05-15
By latentaudio (western ny)
I am the owner of a Johnson J-Station, VOX Tonelab and VOX Amplug. My preference in tones range from clean to mild, blusy distortion.

All that said, the Pocket Pod's built in presets are probably the best of all of the amp simulators that I own and certainly light years a head of the Amplug. One of the things I like about the Pocket Pod is it has a lot of tube amp feel. Maybe even more so than the Tonelab and it has a tube preamp! I'm not a big effects guy, but the effects in the Pocket Pod are pleasing and fun to play around with.

I view this as primarily a practice tool, so the ability to adjust presets on the fly isn't that important to me. I just select the tone from the list and start playing. It is easy to figure out how to use this thing without the manual. I haven't tried to change the presets, but as long as there is a tool that will run on a PC, I'm sure it will be fine.

The ability to plug in an iPod or CD player is a nice feature too.

Battery life is OK with Ni-MH re-chargables. Just get one of those 15 minute chargers!

If you are looking for a headphone amp or silent practice tool, the Pocket Pod is a great choice.

This is the best thing u can ever buy. I play the guitar but have a crappy amp, so i thought the pocket pod would be a solution. and YES it was :D now not only my amp has better sounds and effects but it also fixed the SHHHHHHHHH sound that i had before since it has a noise gate. it also features a tuner which is gd in emergencies. The pod itself has many presets already made and u can custom ur own. u can also download already made presets to enjoy ur best bands sounds. I downloaded some metallica presets and they are really great. U can also connect it to ur pc, home theater, speakers, headphones, etc,, and also input music from an ipod or any mp3 player. concerning the quality of the Pod, i think it is really gd and specially for the price.

A great recommend for beginners or advanced players :D

Thank you !

I like Line 6 products. I own 4 of their amps, and I also have a Line 6 pocket pod which I like and use for practice. When the pocket pod express came out, I thought it would sound at least as good as the regular pocket and simple to use like their amps. I was wrong about the sound. Pocket pod express sounds horrible and thin. It is basically useless, and I am not able to get any decent sound from the pocket pod express. Save a little more money and buy the Pocket pod pack. I do not recommend the pocket pod express.

"Does a lot in a small package" 2010-02-07
By R. W. Milyard (Fort Mohave, Arizona United States)
First off, I agree that Line 6 could work on the battery compartment door. It could go on the back of the unit instead of the side; being on the side creates all kinds of problems to conform to the units side radius.

The unit is pricey, but I have also owned a pocket pod that I gave to my brother for his harmonica and guitar playing, and they do the job well, just like this one.

I wanted something really small to change the sound on the guitar or the keyboard, and this unit does what I wanted. As an added bonus, when hooked up to my practice U-Key, it will amplify the volume to whatever amp/speaker you are using. The unit does not have the presets and amp models that the pocket pod or pricier units have, but you can get this on a lot of your combo amps these days and not have to deal with another piece of hardware.

This is a great bag. It may not protect as well as a hard case but it definitely does a good job. It is well padded and fits the floor pod X3 perfectly. The extra pouch on the front is very nice to store the power cable in. I've been keeping my pod in the original box it came in and this makes it much easier to tote around. well worth it to keep this valuable item safe.

 "The Almost Everything Bag" 2008-05-02
By J. Hartman (Lancaster, PA United States)
I'm constantly dragging my gear to Saturday practice at church and needed a convenient bag. I recently purchased a Line 6 Floor Pod Plus (5 stars) and needed a safe way to store and tote that among other things.

This bag holds the Pod, a power strip, the AC Adaptor, three intrument cables, a mic cable, the power cord to my amp, the manual and I can also squeeze in my Shure SM57 in its pouch. It's snug with all that gear, but the zippers are really tough and the zipper pulls are a heavy duty metal. The strap is heavy duty and has nice padding and very solid metal "clips" (for lack of a better word) to attach it to clips on the bag. They are double reinforced. I sling it on my shoulder and I've got one free hand for a guitar and the other to open doors.

So really, my pedal and all of my accessories go in this bag and that's it. No more gear laying around in my trunk. Plus the pedal is very well protected. The bag is well padded all around. Also, it cuts down on trips back to the car.

Now if I can only fit my amp in there...

 "Love this magic box" 2010-05-13
By SeekingTraveler
I love my Line 6 POD X3 Live Guitar Multi Effects Pedal. With this modern marvel, you should be able to achieve just about any tone you can imagine (the Line 6 website explains its capabilities in detail). With a little experimentation, you should be able to easily find your own unique tone.

After a brief tutorial, and a few minutes with the included manual, it was easy for me to dial through the hundreds of amazing presets. While this device is quite easy to use right out of the box, it might take years to discover all of its capabilities. Mostly I am using the POD X3 Live to replace my existing effects pedals (distortion, chorus, flanger, delay, wah) for use with my Stratocaster. I doubt if I will ever use those pedals again. I am using the device plugged directly into the guitar input on my amplifier; it sounds great.

I also appreciate the built-in tuner (which mutes while tuning, of course), the headphone jack, the microphone input, and the USB output (to use your computer for recording and mixing). Another great feature, is its ability for separate tone processing of the guitar and microphone (vocal) inputs.

I would really love to have a comprehensive instructional DVD that explains how to setup the various "stomps" and "mods." The manufacturer (Line 6) does have many instructional videos posted on their channel on a popular video website; but it would be nice to have select instructional videos (on a DVD) shipped with the product.

"Fantastic if you use it with the right equipment!" 2010-04-20
By Jeremy Allison
If you try to use this with an amp, it will not sound like it should. I've had mine for 6 months and have searched for something to make it sound like it does in the headphones. I've tried 3 different amps, yes plugging into the aux or return and a pair of monitors. The monitors sounded great, but mine were only 5" so they lacked a little depth for me especially on heavy distortion or drop D. I bought a Fender Passport 150 and it sounds great with the X3. I also use a Line 6 Variax and I can now go from Acoustic, sitar, Drop D Distortion, many more and they all sound fantastic! Again the X3 is fantastic, but only if you use it like it was meant to be(Live through a PA). I give it 5 stars! If it were stolen I would buy another.

"Good Product Killed by Lousy Support" 2009-10-04
By Gary L. Green (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
WORD OF WARNING: Anyone who is a Mac User, Line6 support is horrible for the Mac.

Current programs and drivers are NOT working for Snow Leopard.

This is typical of Line6. SL has been out for developers for over a year. Line6 has chosen to ignore the Mac user base. I suggest another company, like Native Instruments.

 "Awesome" 2009-05-06
By S. Gaither (Alabama)
I feel like I own every guitar amp ever made. It truly does imitate amps very well. It is a bit overwhelming to jump into the learning curve, but youtube videos were very helpful. I have yet to find a way to make my electric guitar sound like an acoustic, which is a bit disappointing. I was hoping to eliminate one guitar to my act. I believe it is the best effects pedal made. Maybe I haven't learned how to make it work correctly, but when I switch from A bank to D, then back to A, I am no longer on the preset that I had set up when I went to D. The manual that came with it was version A, and D is the current, so I had to print a 90 something page manual. But, I love it over all. I'm walking out the door to practice with it now.
