I will admit to not being the most proficient at playing guitar, but I like to "try" and sound like a song if I am learning it via tab or by ear. One thing that has always gotten me is the fact that I just am used to standard tuning or drop D tuning, being that those are the easiest. So what about the Morpheus? Well, I also own a Digitech Whammy Pedal, so I understand taking one string and knocking it down, but the Morpheus Droptune allows for all the strings (at once) to play.



What does all this mean?



Okay, say you like Black Sabbath, Slayer or Slipknot, they all tune down at some point in time, so how to do this, especially if you don't want to spend time re-tuning after you get bored trying to play someone else's sound? Well, as soon as you turn it on, it is a half step down, strum a chord, yep, it's a half step down..then hit the "down" button on the left...yep, down another half step, all the way to three and a half steps. Of course the metal guys drop D, then tune down, so go ahead, do that...you sound like your favorite band. Now the pedal is actually a "cheat"...should you learn to do your own tunings, of course you should. Should you, with a whammy bar, learn how to adjust your guitar? Yes you should...but after years and years of playing and not getting much fulfillment from my lack of "sounding" like the song that I am trying to play, this helped get me in tune right away.



Of course you still have to have a decent ear, make sure your original tuning is good, because I believe my salesperson a Woodwind and Brasswind said this creates polyphonic pitch drops, which looking down at my pedal right now, indeed it says that. Just imagine if something is out of tune without effect, generally from my experience, the sounds don't get better with effects, unless distortion is involved. But you'll still sound terrible if you don't know how to tune your guitar right, sounds really basic, but after seeing that there are guitars with robot tuners out there, I'm pretty sure the art of tuning your own guitar will be gone in a decade too. So just tune clean, no effect on, then turn on the effect.



There is a cool middle button that allows for you to go up a half step while the effect is on, kinda cool, but really just for effect...if you want to build a riff around that, cool, but I believe Tom Morello already did that. Also once the effect is on, you can only go down on the pedal, so this could be an issue for an active on stage guitarist, but I doubt that you'll be kicking your own effects, that is more likely going to be your klutzy singer.



I will recommend this to anyone at all that amplifies their guitar, clean or distorted, but accept the fact that on the clean sounds, you'll get more of an odd sound (slight warble, but it does exist if your are going to tune three steps down....it really does go three steps and a half down. I know...shocking) What I might suggest is learning how to feel comfortable with tuning down a half or whole step on your guitar, then setting the pedal to two whole steps down, I believe your sound will not be degraded on the clean effect.





Mine was worth every penny and when I did combine it with my whammy pedal, I was able to create some wicked tones through a line-6 spider III. My "rig" isn't something to "behold" for those with the bucks or the drive to spend every last dollar on guitar related equipment, so if it sounds nice/great on my rig, I can only imagine what it will sound like on a really nice set up. (Not dissing my own stuff, but I do know that there are a lot of people out there with more in-depth set-ups) Buy it...or at least try it out.

I bought this unit from another outlet. I thought 15 dollars was worth the gamble to see if a flanger would be useful to me. It's a fine effect when used sparingly. The plastic case some people complain about is not that big a deal. It's pretty sturdy. I don't see it breaking just because you drop it, or even throw it, on the ground.

The bad news is that 5 days after I would have been able to send it back, day 50 of ownership, it seems to have taken a turn for the worse. It developed an annoying hiss/buzz when it reaches the apogee of its sweep. I tried to figure out some way of isolating the problem hoping it would be one of the cables (Why would that be better? The cables cost more than the pedal!)but it turned out to be in the flanger itself.

I'm going to replace it for sure with a more reliable pedal but this thing served its purpose and hopefully I can adjust the setting and take the noise out of it and use it on my practice amp.

It has a lot of sounds, does a lot, but the quality of the sounds is pretty mediocre. There are also some problems when you adjust some of the sounds so that things will just go berserk when you try to adjust the gain on some of the distortion sounds for example. I had a Behringer Tube Distortion pedal that I used to think sounded great. I paid thirty dollars for it online and it took me several months to figure out what I had been missing. Even with Ibanez cheap stock pickups, I found that, just by turning the gain knob, you go from Sweet Child O' Mine distortion to Crazy Train metal sounds. Two totally different styles of distortion and this pedal nailed them. I have used Boss pedals before and it's true that they are higher quality. But they are also about $80-$100 more. So if you are on a short supply of cash but want some great rock distortion, this is definetly your best bet.



Another little interesting thing about this pedal is that it has a blue LED light that can actually be used as effect lighting. It gives off a cool eerie glow that, while not making the pedal perform any better, adds another degree of coolness to this pedal.

I use the stomp button as a push button. I set it on top of my practice amp and reach over to press the button when I want it turned on. I barely used the pedal and it stopped working. It still has passthrough while it's plugged in but it doesn't effect the sound at all like it used to. I opened it up thinking maybe a wire came loose or the chip was burned out, but it looked perfectly fine.



It does sound nice and clean while working. The plasic is very durable for how cheaply they produce these things. I would definitly buy another one, but not right now...

For the price I give it five stars but as a musician I must look at the pedal it's self and not the price and in my opinion it's a pretty descent chorus pedal! I give it four stars and until I am working again I think I will be buying more of these cheap danelectro pedals to help me get the effects I need for the music I write.

I was looking for an inexpensivs chorus to add some depth to my sound in our church praise band. I got more than I paid for. I have since also purchased the Overdrive and Flange versions of this series also. They are very nice also. Once you learn how to adjust them, you can get some really great sounds, but don't expect instant perfection. All effects boxes have a learning curve.



The case is a strong plastic that should last unless you are an ape. I am a little concerned about the ruggedness of the switch. We'll see. I would love to have true-bypass, a stronger case, and a stronger switch. However, that would drive up the price. If you want all that, then pay twice the price and get Danelectro's "Cool Cats" series. They look really fine. But if you want to play around with some great little effects boxes for no more than "coffee money," than you can't miss with these "Fab" little pedals. Hey, even if you hate them, you're not out much! My guess is that you will like them too.

I needed to expand my guitar effect arsenal and came across the Danelectro Fab 5 Chorus. At first I thought at the price, it could not be particularly good, but the reviews from other purchasers suggested otherwise. Buoyed by the positive reviews, I ordered one for myself. It sounds great, has a wide array of chorus intensity and speed to choose from, and has a wonderfully warm sound.
