 "functional if not exciting" 2010-04-17

Boosts the signal without too much noise, though not totally quiet. Good for lead w/ single channel amps; boosting signal into effects that vary depending on signal strength--especially at lower practice volumes. Should be INEXPENSIVE!

 "A great utilitarian pedal" 2009-11-28
By J. Miller (Greenfield, MA USA)
The least glamourous pedals are sometimes the most useful. Some good uses for the LPB-1: Boosting your signal at the end of the effects chain, overdriving an amp or distortion pedal, boosting a clean signal for solos, etc.

Some of the Nano series pedals do not live up to the EHX name, like the modulation pedals, but this thing works great. And it's cheap.

"Can't Recommend this Highly Enough" 2009-06-02

This pedal is fantastically reliable, and the best boost I've tried in terms of tone quality and low noise. Because it's a boost and not a distortion, it doesn't change your sound when you kick it in, but it does up the signal to the front end of your amp so it can get more of your Amp's own natural distortion to sing through. As a way to jump on top of the band for a solo, this pedal is the perfect thing. It does add a little bit of mid-range bump which I really like--not much but if you really listen you can hear it happening. Another great use for this is at the end of a chain of effects your using to make up for any signal loss suffered in your chain. I frequently use it as an always on effect in that case, juicing the front end of my amp just enough to make up for the loss in power from running through four different boxes. This can also be really useful if you use a couple different guitars, and one of them has a noticeably lower output than the other. You can figure that difference out in advance and have the boost level on this set to compensate, so when you switch instruments, you hit the boost and maintain your overall output level. This is so inexpensive, I can keep an extra on hand just in case. I have also bought a few of these to give friends who I thought could really use a boost. Seriously, at less than $40 this is a great deal.

"This thing is SO Much better than an overdrive pedal!" 2009-01-31
By David E. Newsome (St. Augustine, FL)
I bought this to boost the overdrive on my Peavey Valveking Amp. I was previously trying different overdrive pedals, such as a TS9 Tubescreamer, 2 different Rocktron OD pedals, BBE green Screamer OD. All of them seemed to color my sound just the slightest, even if you turned their gain parameter all the way down. So I ditched my overdrive pedals and tried this puppy. It blew me away. It does exactly what I want it to. It boosts the signal, so that if you are playing clean, the signal comes through clearer and more chimey. And if you are using a bit of gain, the pedal warms up the distortion and gives it more definition. And it does not color the amps natural tone any. Also, there is no hum or buzz of any kind, and the petal is totally quiet, whether on or off (I think it might be true bypass). This is probably the best pedal I've ever owned.
