"Excellent book for beginner to know and understand tone effects hardware" 2010-03-15
By Robert L. Lapointe (Carlsbad, CA)
As a beginner to the electric guitar and an intermediate acoustic guitar player, this book taught me how to use my electric guitar with my amp and tone effect pedals. A great reference for how everything works and how it sounds. Comes with CD and essential diagrams of how to sequence pedals for multiple effects. A must buy for beginner electric guitarists or anyone who wants an excellent reference of tone effects.

 "Who needs this?" 2009-01-06

The only person who would ever need this book is a total newbie who's never picked up an electric guitar in their life and got some pedals along with a guitar/amp starter kit for christmas. Sophomoric would be way too generous; the book is written for simpletons. Half an hour experimenting with whatever stomp boxes you have on hand would be far more instructive that reading this book.

"Great guitar book that every player should read." 2008-10-17
By G. Gemmill (Coldwater, Mi.)
I was so impressed with this book. I contained not only great comparrisons of equipment, but also the whys and wherefores of how a guitar makes it's tones. I learned more from this book than most others that i've read on the subject, and would recommend it to any player, no matter how long you've been at it.

"Introduction to Guitar Tone and Effects" 2008-10-03
By Luis A. Bermejo (D.R.)
if it where possible id give it a no star or a half star this book is not worth wasting money. it will just confirm what you already know. i bought it because i thought i was going to read information that explained extensively each pedal effect and talk about pedal chains. i was going to write a lot about it but not worth it, simply put you can google anything that's in this book, you'll have it for free and it will be detailed information .. as opposed to this book.

"quite a fun, but not stuff for a single book" 2007-05-13

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is worth, but contains only small amount of information. You may find the entire contents in the book could be written as a couple of chapters. However, the CD was absolutely useful.
